Florida has taken guns away from 2,000 residents in the year and a half since the state passed its Red Flag law, but while advocates tout the measure’s success and seek to have it expanded nationwide, statistics also show that much of the state has been slow to get on board.
The law empowers police to take weapons out of the hands of those who are likely to use them to harm themselves or others.
Would love to get the followup on those gun owners' tribulations, especially the one singled out for unrequited love revenge.
Process, time and cost to gun owners for recovery.
Condition of returned firearms
In the case of clear revenge complaints was the complainant charged with a crime.. if that is not in the red flag law it should be.
So if you have a spat with your neighbor and he calls the cops to say he feels threatened because you own guns, how is that handled? Guns taken and eventually the case is sorted out.??? details
Hope these redflag laws are modified to avoid the mistakes of the first generation of RF laws. A requirement for yearly or as needed review and modification is written into the law.
We need to see the stats and case details!
As our justice system does not allow a person to be arrested for a crime he might commit in the future, red flag laws must be used with great discretion and openess.
Oh the humanity! Taking guns away from people who may use them to murder others or to take their own lives. Who do they think they are!!! Think of the lives saved from the police taking that action. Who cares!

They should confiscate your car because you might drink one evening and drive drunk.

Better to prevent you from ever doing that crime.
Yeah, like you know better than the police leading the investigations, interviewing these folks, and are on the ground doing their job protecting the public. LOL
