Indeed. The scope and size of the Ukraine conspiracy are coming into focus. This was much more than a phone call. Extorting Ukraine into colluding against Biden was planned in advance for months. Yovanovitch, a person of high moral character and integrity, got in the way and Trump pushed her out.
This mess (the beginning at least) probably started with a scheme, but Trump and Giuliani may not have been the planners. That would be Lutsenko (the then-Ukrainian prosecutor general).
Oddly enough, both Trump and Giuliani may actually be telling the truth. Trump was obsessed with the 2016 elections. Giuliani was dutifully investigating. The Bidens were the cherry on top of the sundae.
The cast of characters is like the gang that couldn't shoot straight ...
Culminating in Trump's bumbled telephone call to Zelensky where he crossed a line.
Not sure if not comprehending the Constitutional limits to his office is grounds for impeachment.
And: Are there going to be 20 Republican Senators who are concerned enough about national security to do the right thing for this country? Will they somehow find the same courage and faithfulness to duty that everyday government employees are exhibiting?
I think there may be a few eventually but most will stay with Trump. I do hope I am wrong.
Surprise, surprise: Sondland now is reported to maintain he only texted to Bill Taylor what Trump told him to say in a brief phone call about a quid pro quo.
"Sondland plans to tell lawmakers he has no knowledge of whether the president was telling him the truth at that moment. “It’s only true that the president said it, not that it was the truth,” said the person familiar with Sondland’s planned testimony, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive diplomatic matters."
He will discuss two possibilities: One, that Trump was lying when he said he didn't "want a quid pro quo ... didn't want anything [my emphasis] from Ukraine."
Two, Trump had changed his mind since some were already questioning the defense aid hold-up. “Whether he’s deciding it’s getting too hot to handle and he backs off whatever his position really was a month earlier, I don’t know,” the person said of Sondland’s understanding.
Sondland will say Giuliani instructed him to obtain a public statement to investigate corruption that included Burisma. Trump, in return, would grant a WH visit to Zelensky. Sondland is expected to say he did not realize the Burisma request was tied to Hunter Biden.
The intermediary reportedly has Sondland's permission to release this testimony preview. Sondland declined comment through his attorneys. The White House will not comment.

...
Time will tell, I suppose. Sondland's introductory statement if made public could be quite a read.
So, as long as you ask another country to do research, and pay them....it's all good, as long as you are doing research, on your opponent?
The research was originally funded by the RNC, who dropped the project when Trump was nominated.
