How is it illegal to ask for an investigation into possible corruption? How is it illegal to have the Commander in Chief ask another nation's leader to determine if unlawful crimes were committed by a man when he was VP of the USA, when that man may run for POTUS in a little over a year? Don't you think that is a matter of national security? I am glad Trump has the guts to deal with the issues and pray to God he will keep extortionist and thieves out of the White House.

If she was going to bring an allegation against a possible SCOTUS Justice, she should have been able to back it up. She was obviously a liar looking for her fifteen minutes and some money. She got both, and has faded away from the memories of most. She has been replaced by the newer garbage allegations against Trump, Kavanaugh and other conservative politicians. Smollet made charges that very easily could have resulted in riots, looting and arson equal to the Ferguson Mo. riots. It was reckless phony race baiting designed to bring him publicity. Why isn't he in prison for his crimes?
I say make the charges, investigate them and if absolutely zero evidence is found the accuser gets punished with prison time. Unsupported allegations against potential high level politicians and judges are nothing but weaponized charges designed to keep them out of office and will continue until these phony accusers have something substantial to lose. Phony race hate crime allegations are even worse in that many people could be hurt or killed rather than just someone losing a job.
Ford made no charges that would be prosecute-able by any administration. Kavanaugh could of course claim libel and sue. But he won't as that would provide an opportunity for discovery and a trial and the defendant would likely be able to hang him.

She made charges that could have been prosecuted under the civil rights violations laws. It is the new catch all to circumvent statutes of limitation. But, that aside there was no chance of charges because there was zero evidence, it didn't happen and she would have never gone into court where she could be charged with perjury.
Kavanaugh wouldn't have been hung by any jury because he didn't do anything to her. He may or may have been be a drunkard or a jerk. He may have been the Frat clown. But he never in any way sexually assaulted her. That's why he in on the SCOTUS and she is pushing books on 3rd rate talk shows when she can find one desperate for a guest.
