Cosco wasn't involved in 1990s, that was OOCL. Different company.

That would be an unhappy state of affairs. Luckily, that is not what is happening here. American Stinker is withholding some pretty important facts, as is their habit.

To not see this is what our current political battles are all about
Didn't read the thread, did you?

To reiterate - whatever this deal is about, it is NOT about the ownership of the Port of Long Beach. Which remains firmly in the US. (In the US, ports are organized as quasi-governmental special districts. They are governed by elected commissioners. None of them are for sale or lease to anyone.) It is about the ownership of an individual container terminal, and large ports will have quite a few container terminals. Port of Long Beach, for instance, has 22. Trump is just fine with globalism, BTW. He owns a couple of global companies himself.

Actually after rechecking COSCO has been active there since 1981...everything was going quietly til the 90's then Clinton and gang taking Red Chinese $$$ and having them in the White House for photo ops made for bad pr. Of course things like one of their containers being discovered with 2 000 AK47's being smuggled in didn't help either. Red China is our enemy and is preparing to war against us, they have us so addicted to cheaper made in China crap if they stop shipping ANYTHING here and their top 10 other customers do the same we are screwed...good ole Free Trade Trojan horse..and a war with Red China means fighting Russia too. Both have port rights and military cooperation in South and Central America the Caribbean. Its by design and we have the traitors in DC both R/D and Free Trade to thank. And those Chinese missiles... better worry much of their design comes from good ole USA...thanks mostly to Clinton and Bush.

If that's the incredibly cunning plan, wouldn't it be easier to, y'know, not load up the ships in China? Seems whatever scheme you're imagining that requires a container terminal in Long Beach to stop shipping is a bit over-complicated.

Yes, COSCO has had a presence in Long Beach for ages, but not operating their own terminal.

Trump the business owner and Trump the President are two different entities. Trump the business owner had no problem with China producing goods for a cheaper price for sale in the USA.

How practical, to have two value sets depending on the situation.

As nearly as I can see, Donald Trump is Donald Trump. One of him is bad enough.

I agree with this. Which is why I don't see the unbridled vitriol against him.
