Yes, anytime people demand an orthodoxy and attempt to squash alternative views, then threaten a sort of 'excommunication' for not following what they demand, you have the basis of a religion. Modern leftism has all the components of a religion and is the complete opposite of free-thinking.

If only. It's more like a mass conversion akin to the transition of the Roman Empire from pagan to Christian.
We are at the stage where large institutions and large sectors of business and politics are converting to "woke" religion of intersectionality and identity/grievance politics.
I would have called it "the madness of the mob" because those that are embroiled in the movement, can we call it that? are all whacky. I don't know where they get their marching orders from? Is there a newsletter or something that tells them all what the daily outrage is?
