You and another poster seem to be obsessed with finding internet articles that make you more driven to your prejudicial views of people based on political lean and ethnic roots.
I wonder if you notice your obsession. Do a search of all the threads you post and maybe it will enlighten you about this.
Seems you are more snow-flakey and whiny than the liberals you tend to condemn with your post. Wondering why all these random articles rile you up so much when not too many people really GAF about the feelings involved in math in Seattle (lol) or Asian chefs who don't like ethnic aisle in grocery stores. Seriously, it is like you are searching for things to B about.
^ Even a Marxist Team Blue member understands what's going on here, Team Red moaners.
Have you no shame, Team Red? The Marxists are calling you out for being too Marxist.

You don't have anything to say about the articles, or who wrote them, their ideas, etc. You have a problem with those who post said articles.
Think about that a moment. You are upset not at the origins of the posts, but simply that they were posted.
What kind of posts would you rather see here on Politics and Other Controversies?
LOL yep. The link has a link to the original document sitting in Seattle School Districts website.
Showed it to a liberal teacher friend of mine. She called it one of the dumbest things she has ever seen. Note she is older and more hippy liberal than SJW liberal. Yes a real liberal, I know her last 3 votes were Obama, Obama, Hillary. She even did door to door for Hillary.
When was the last time a truly liberal Democrat (not by rhetoric, but by action in office) was in office ?
Is chess racist? It has black and white pieces and white moves first, so it must be racist. Whatever. The progressive movement is running out of targets, so it's going to converge asymptotically on bizarre fringe notions. Whoops, I used a math term. I'm bad.
The person who thought this up probably sucks at math. I guess it's payback time.
Excellent post. Not only that, when I was in school, there was a special needs class in which classes were taught at a slower pace and they had tutors and teachers aides there to assist. So it's not like these students were ignored! They weren't.
Now to turn the tables and say the reason why they aren't comprehending more advanced classes like math has NOTHING to do with racism. This is a prime example of using racism as a crutch and attempting to shame other students who don't struggle (as much) with math is a bit insulting.
The piece cites numerous quotes from the Seattle Public Schools itself. Such as:
Quote:
“the ways in which individuals and groups define mathematical knowledge so as to see ‘Western’ mathematics as the only legitimate expression of mathematical identity and intelligence.”
“This definition of legitimacy is then used to disenfranchise people and communities of color. This erases the historical contributions of people and communities of color,” the framework continues.
The “learning targets” for this themes state that students will be able to “analyze the ways in which ancient mathematical knowledge has been appropriated by Western culture” and to identify and explain how math and other sciences have been “used to oppress and marginalize people and communities of color.”
Here's another quote copied directly from the school system's 'framework' of the program:
Quote:
Can you suggest resolutions to oppressive mathematical practices? ● How can we change mathematics from individualistic to collectivist thinking? ● How can we reframe our views of people/communities of color in mathematics?
A few years back there was an op-ed in the Seattle Times by a UW professor of atmospheric science.

As someone who has taught an introductory atmospheric sciences class for over 20 years, my sad observation, and one seconded by my colleagues in several other departments, is that competency in math and science has declined from roughly the late 1970s until now. Many of us have been forced to "dumb down" our classes, particularly those demanding mathematical skills.
Interestingly, the university gave virtually the same mathematics placement test to all freshmen from the mid-1980s until 2000; students' scores declined during this period, objectively confirming our subjective impressions.
Reductio ad absurdum for many on the far, far left, becomes a non-existent concept.
It's the same quirk of human nature that leads an Islamist to strap on a suicide vest and blow himself up for the glory of Allah.
