So a police officer can walk into your apartment, kill you, claim that he or she thought they were in their own apartment and receive 10 years. But if you shoot a police dog...

Wonder how many years he received for the unrelated crimes because the way the article reads...

Shameful.

Cops don’t have to be our friends, as they have a job to do. But it seems like they are being coddled and perhaps that’s leading to more careless and wrongful behavior among them.

Silly question: What are similar sentences for people who kill actual humans and plead guilty within the same jurisdiction?

Granted there were other crimes involved but someone convicted of 2nd degree murder can be eligible for parole in 15-25.

Given the answer above.

Apparently more than humans.

Sentences are passed in most countries in relation to mitigating and aggravating circumstances and Judges have to follow guidelines.

Premeditated or cold blooded crimes such as robberoes that are planned usually receive much harsher penalties, and killing someone or a police dog in such circumstances certainly warrants a long sentence.

The judge may also look at genuine remorse, admission of guilt and cooperation with the authorities.

Yes we know. But we also know that sentencing isn’t always fair...
