Reporting on Trump is considered 'negative' when it makes Trump look bad.

Fox News omits to report on much of what is going on in the Trump administration, and spins much of what they can not ignore. If they were "fair and balanced" as they used to claim, they would report far more of the truth about Trump, and the consequences of his actions, and it would appear far more negative as a result.

No evidence of that.
Even on their most lighthearted show, "The Five", Juan Williams is literally paid to criticized Trump non-stop, everything that he says is a shot at Trump.

Fox News was his personal mouthpiece for the past several years but the past few months they have not kissed his ring 7x24. He wants that back - 7x24 dictatorship propaganda TV like in North Korea and China.

State controlled media works very in Russia, China and North Korea so I can totally understand Trump's thinking here.

Here is a hypothetical question. How would the reporting on Trump be different if:

A) Trump is totally innocent but the media is corrupt and left leaning

B) Trump is totally guilty but the media is unbiased and reporting accurately

Wasn't this his plan when he accidentally got elected? Maybe he's thinking that he might need a fall back job if his current one falls through.
