Well, hardly any digging yet and we already have this!
https://www.npr.org/2019/10/04/76708...e-quid-pro-quo

"Volker texts Sondland: "Most impt is for Zelensky to say that he will help investigation.""

"Volker: Excellent!! How did you sway him?

Sondland: Not sure i did. I think potus really wants the deliverable"

"I think it's crazy to withhold security assistance for help with a political campaign."

""Are we now saying that security assistance and WH meeting are conditioned on investigations?"

Sondland replies: "Call me."

"I suggest we stop the back and forth by text ..."

This is just part of the back and forth for the visit - cancelled by Trump - of Pence to the Ukraine for the new leader there. They ended up sending Perry, which is part of the story!

NO ONE can claim they didn't know for a LONG time exactly what this was about. And they KNOW they are doing wrong which is why they stop talking about it.

This was also in the link.

Quote:
In one exchange dated Sept. 9, in a text Taylor sent to Sondland, the career diplomat says, "I think it's crazy to withhold security assistance for help with a political campaign."

Sondland responds: "Bill, I believe you are incorrect about President Trump's intentions. The President has been crystal clear no quid pro quo's of any kind."

Sondland continues, "I suggest we stop the back and forth by text."

Why was that left out in your summary?
Don't get me wrong I would not put it past the president but you should try to look at the whole picture.

Yes that’s the part Trumplings are going to cling to. Because explicitly denying something in writing, immediately followed by a request to stop writing stuff down and “call me” is not a totally obvious ploy.

Uh, yeah, they know they are doing wrong which is why they stop texting and make a call that we will never hear.

Great evidence.........

As one famous lawyer said yesterday, there are dozens of Mob cases where prosecutions have been made when the only "ask" was to "do me a favor". The actual events are used to judge....like the fact that aid was held up, Pence didn't go, the WH invite was never given....and Ukrainian soldiers DIED in the meantime.

If one holds the position that the POTUS or his aids have to say "Hey, we want to break the law so we want this and that and until we have this and that we are not going to give you what Congress allowed".....well, they are gonna be hard to convince.

To quote Reagan and others "The 11th commandment is - YOU DO TOO KNOW WHAT I MEAN. Let's not be coy.

Sondland, a 1 million dollar contributor to Trump (hence his position as ambassador to EU), knew that the texts were looking bad, hence he wrote this to try to dampen down the damage should the texts come out.

The evidence, however, speaks otherwise.

They can never be convinced. Trump can do no wrong by virtue of being Trump. If Trump does it, it’s not wrong.

Okay call me crazy ,my first thought was that the quote about quid pro quo
was added later or was placed there originally to cover their behinds .
Don't even know if it is possible but it just seems a bit too well placed in the conversation.

Man you REALLY REALLY have to hate the Democrats, hate liberals, and worship right wing media to think this kind of thing should be looked the other way at.
