Have any of you worked in education? I have for 9 years.
First, no one gets "fired" from teaching, officially, unless they committed a felony or slept with a student, etc... You get asked back & contract renewed or not. On that, "fired" seems like an exaggeration on Warren't part, because that's not how it works. However, I can report as someone who had hire/fire authority, the "you don't have the credits necessary" is an easy excuse to not hire someone or to let someone go without blowback. I've done it myself to someone I didn't want working in my department: Oops! You don't have the necessary 24 credit hours in "whatever subject!" I knew full well he wouldn't be able to get them by the following year & by that time I'd have hired someone else for the gig who did have them.
An emergency certification is a TEMP POSITION. She was essentially a FT-Temp Substitute, and those people are hired year-by-year at the discretion of the head administrator, in this case the elementary principal. Unless there's bad blood and they don't trust the principal for some reason, when it comes to hiring and non-renewal decisions the board is a rubber stamp. That's how it is even today; elected boards rarely contradict the administrators on personnel matters.
The board's public minutes are not a definitive source. Does anyone thing that the public school board minutes were going to say "Mrs. Warren - not renewed due to PREGNANCY!" LOL no! They wouldn't have done that even in 1971. They are going to publicly put on a good face and say "thank you, hope to see you again soon!" Just like I tell people "give us a call back and see if we've got a spot for you next year," even then I have no intention of ever letting that person in front of one of my classrooms, credits or not.
The way Warren has responded will make it impossible to prove one way or another. She says the principal called her in and told her they had someone else they were going to hire for the position. The only person besides her who knows what happened in that meeting is the principal. Is he/she alive to confirm or deny? That's the only way to find out.
I don't think this hurts her. Any woman out there has experienced discrimination or judgmental opinion when working while pregnant. They definitely know what it's like to try and search for jobs while pregnant - no one will hire you. My wife experienced that.
Plus, the circumstances of why Warren left a one year gig she held 48 years ago are not particularly relevant.
Probably not reverent to her supporters. But all this liar fuss will effect those on the fence. Nobody knows what the contract said. I am not familiar with giving a contract to a part time uncertified teacher. My district has at will employment.

Funny! Republicans must be desperate to find anything that Warren may have done that might undercut her image as a politician of rare honesty and integrity, in comparison to most of them.

I don't think they are particularly worried about Warren. She has advocated for some crazy things lately. Moderates and independents wont vote for her far left, socialist platform.
On top of that, she has a habit of lying about her past, but that is just icing on the cake.
Well into his 40’s! Trump seemed to believe he was Swedish, based on family oral history.
His father found it more convenient to claim Swedish roots rather than German, in the NYC real estate market during the 30’s- 50’s.
Trump falsely claimed Swedish ancestors in the Art of the Deal.
Fast forward to 2019, Trump claimed his father was an immigrant from Germany, multiple times. Trump’s father was born in NYC.
Politicians say the darndest things.
Swedes and Germans are both mostly white. Warren actually claimed to be a different race, Native American, for decades without having any proof of such whatsoever AND while being white, blonde-haired, and blue-eyed. SHE actually looks more Swedish than does Trump.
Warren is the Rachel Dolezal of native Americans. Dolezal lost her job as a college prof and a NAACP leader because of her lie about her race. Shouldn't Warren also lose her gig as a Senator, be disbarred, and lose the Dem nomination for the exact same offense?
