Trump really does think he’s being funny saying those things now, he’s like the kid taunting the class goodie-two-shoe after she told on him and he didn’t get in trouble. Yeah, like I said he’s juvenile, and whether it’s funny or not depends on your point of view, but nonetheless, it isn’t wrong to say he’s kidding. Is it behavior appropriate for the person who is supposed to be the leader of the free world? Not really, but there is a mechanism to address that come November 3, 2020.
Schiff, on the other hand, who doesn’t have the disposition of a middle school boy, was not kidding. His after-the-fact claim it was a parody was an excellent example of a Court Jester Defense. Love that term, by the way.

Also, I have to say, I don’t subscribe to the
Trump’s always been a buffoon, so that makes the other person worse line of thinking—especially when Schiff doesn’t have a long history of using that excuse. Pretty weak defense, IMO.
