How you can make that claim while supporting Bill Clinton displays amazing tunnel vision.

Plus it wasn't an intelligence matter, it was over policy.

The discussion of protecting the whistleblower's identity comes after 90 former national security officials who served under both Democratic and Republican presidents signed an open letter defending the whistleblower and stressing the necessity of protecting the individual’s identity.

Considering how this president and some of his supporters in Congress want his/her identity disclosed, this would seem to be a prudent course of action.
Well - exposing the people didn't work in the Kavanaugh hearings, or the Mueller investigation... might as well try to hide them this time.

What does any of that have to do with protecting the identity of a whistleblower, which is the topic of this thread?

Exactly. It's not an urgent concern unless it involves IC activity or funding.

The whistleblower's identity needs to remain under wraps at this point in an investigation. Think of this hearings as being part of the grand jury process. Prosecutors routinely hide the identity of their witnesses at this point from the defense. a grand jury hearing is basically part of the prosecutors case, it's not a trial where the defendant has a right to face his accuser. It's a failed talking point for the GOP, none of whom seem to have ever watched "Law & Order."

They don't have the authority to investigate impeachment without a full House vote.

Not a whistleblower? Part of a powerful, organized anti-Trump cabal? That is just another crazy conspiracy theory.
Madness.

The Whistleblower law provides protection for whistleblowers. Otherwise people who report illegalities could be silenced or retaliated against.

Congressional law has been weaponized by the house to pure political objectives -they have degraded FBI to a political stooge and rent a thug status
