Bernie used to be all about this, inequality being an up-down thing, a true leftist of the old stripe. I respected him for that, even though I am not a leftist myself.
Then he got "woke", and now is just another pandering idiot like the rest of the new, New left.
The real divide isn't between Right and Left. The real divide is between those with critical thinking skills and an informed world view - and those without.
Thanks. I like Reich. But I think that it's also true that Republicans lean toward oligarchy and Democrats lean toward, well, democracy.
The Tea Party hard Right faction of the Republican party went well off the rails toward Oligarchy, that is true. But overlooking that, the moderates of both parties really aren't that far apart. Common sense centrists understand that a functional hybrid system of government, blending the best of both ends of the spectrum, works well as it has for many decades.
Enforcing antitrust would do far more to reduce inequality than any of the lefty schemes of 70% tax rates for the ubermensch.
Wont happen.
The US is a pseudo democratic republican government with freedom of speech. The real rulers long ago learned to just buy congress to get 80% of what they want regardless of the general wishes of the populace. The last 20% is not worth the drama of shooting people over. A lesson the idiot in North Korea should learn.

That's insane!
