Another day, yet another whine fest about violating school dress codes.

The little girl violated two clearly written rules about hairstyles, and as per usual these days, enabling mommy vents on Facebook and brings out the race card.

An 8-year-old girl in Michigan was barred from taking a photo on school picture day because her hairstyle was deemed “extreme.” Now, her parents are speaking out about the incident, saying “race has everything to do with this.”

The third-grader at Paragon Charter Academy in Jackson, Michigan had her hair specially done in braids wrapped into a bun by her mom LaToya Howard for the big day. But after leaving the house feeling camera ready with her black and red extensions, Marian Scott came home feeling defeated.

What's going to happen when she gets a job and they make her cut her hair, scream racism?

I have never heard of a company making female employees cut their hair. That would be insane.

The Navy does (or used to, they may have changed that.)

The policy quoted in the article does appear to be clear. No unnatural hair color, and headbands that are white, navy, hunter green, etc.

If the mother can find other children who are not Black but who are in clear violation of the policy, I think she'd have a case.

I have a friend who went to great pains getting her daughter into a Charter school. The friend and her daughter are constantly pushing the school's buttons. The last time the kid was sent home for having royal blue streaks in her hair. I really don't get why some people feel so self entitled, rules are rules.

It’s a charter school, they are treated like private schools when it comes to stuff like this. About 38% of her classmates are the same race as her, if every other child was in the school managed to avoid taking a picture with red hair, after they were specifically told no unnatural colors, then she could too. The parent needs to transfer her child to regular public school if she wants her daughter to have red hair in her school picture.

Because they are egotistical, selfish louts who believe rules don’t apply to them. These are the same people that bring non-service dogs into supermarkets and use their cell phones in movie theaters. They get upset if someone calls them on it as if they’re exempt.

Unless she joins the military; I cannot imagine an employer 'making her cut her hair".

Just FYI, I know of multiple young teachers have been told either directly or indirectly, to lose non-standard hairstyles. If they don’t comply their contracts are not renewed - essentially fired.
