It's not even the presence of firearms, it's the training. German police officers are armed. On a bad year, they fire 30 shots in the line of duty. Not per officer. Not 30 perpetrators killed. 30 shots fired. Total.

Of course, they're trained to de-escalate and contain conflicts, which is probably socialism.

It's not my job to make sure the person a cop is shooting at while in uniform is unarmed or not. But it is HIS job to ascertain that before he pulls the trigger. He failed in that most basic duty of the job and someone is dead because of it.

And your feeling is, oh, well, too bad. Let's let this poor excuse of an LE just go find another job. Meanwhile, an innocent citizen is dead. But who cares, right? The poor cop was SCARED. Let him walk away without consequence and start a new life in another career.

Despicable.

Oh okay so she is to blame for her assassination for staying up and playing video games. I can already see some people trying to slyly weasel in and smear this woman.

Losing your career is consequences...

Do you also feel that people from the construction company of that hotel in New Orleans should spend time in prison??? After all, they too made mistakes that caused deaths of innocent people..

Yeah, this guy would obviously have been dead if he hadn't unloaded through a bedroom window.

No. We hire officers who think, who take the time to understand the situation, who contain and de-escalate. Train them for it. Make them fill out paperwork when they draw a weapon (cops hate paperwork). Drop the "You WILL respect my authority" BS. And get rid of the defensive Blue Line backing bad cops at all costs.

Other nations can do it.

Why on Earth would anyone respect an authority that can't train "peace" officers to think before they shoot?

You're right. It's none of your business.

Seriously, is this what the victim-blamers have to hang their hat on?

Forth Worth pays their police officers about the same as some of the suburbs I looked at (Plano, Arlington, Richardson etc) that have much lower crime rates..where are the better officers going to want to work???

Its the same thing in education, the better teachers work in the better districts.. the districts with more problems get lesser teachers unless the pay is higher..

At the very least the cop should be charged with some level of manslaughter and do some time.
