The scenario the neighbor gave could have easily had a rapist or murderer still in the house.
Cop should have announced himself.

Actually, that's a good question. It seems like it's very possible.

She was probably armed and knew there was some guy snooping around outside. I often defend cops but this is ridiculous. She has every right to be armed in her own home without getting shot. Makes you think twice if you arm yourself while someone is snooping around outside your windows in the dark. He panicked. Cops have a tough job but he needs to pay for this.

And you definitely should not comply with just anyone that comes up to your house and holds a gun on you at 2 am.
Actually.. if a gun is pointed at you you should comply no matter who the person is.. for your own sake.

The irony is that it was a welfare check.
The cop shoots the very person they were doing a welfare check on.

I miss the old days when you felt you could call the police in case something went wrong. Now you don't call the police in the event something will go wrong.

Why? So they can do whatever they want to you with no resistance? If I'm going to be killed anyway then it's better to go out fighting.
