He couldn't have seen the gun from less than 6 feet away??? LOL
Through a window that was reflecting a flashlight and through a partially closed blind? He likely couldn't see his own gun, let alone a gun being held by a figure on the other side of the window.
The point is that the fear many white people have of black neighborhoods is irrational in many cases.
There are degrees of bad neighborhoods. Look how quick the locals were to come in and tell us what a horrible neighborhood this was and that you were basically risking your life by going there.
And, yet we see the neighbors on tv and they are just normal people living their lives.
No thugs, gang members, etc hanging on the streets. No bullets flying. Probably not much crime happening other than property crime or break-ins of houses when the owners are gone like happens in many places black or white.
Cause like I said before if there was violent crime or home invasions going on there all the time the FWPD would have let that be known for sure.
Nope. Actually, it isn't.
Chances are that a white person could go strolling into a black neighborhood and nothing will happen. But the risk of something bad happening increases quite a bit.
People of all races are pretty good at sniffing out someone who isn't from around their part of town or region or whatever. Not belonging, being different, confused, nervous in those surroundings, etc are high on the list of reasons to attack someone.
Yet all the above doesn't make it wrong for a black person - just because they are black - to defend themselves when they are being threatened. If the woman thought her house was being broken into, or her family being threatened in some way, then I don't see how she should be blamed for trying to defend herself in her own home. That would mean if you are black, just give the other guy the upper hand at all times or else.
Really??? So risking his own safety to check on others is wrong??? Do youreally think he went there for the purpose of killing someone??
This cop could be a borderline psychopath that was looking for the slightest excuse to blow somebody away. Or he could be a twitchy fearful cop that would open fire at the sight of a mouse. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and say he is the latter.
Yeah why didn't he just go over there and check on her if he was that concerned about it? This guy blew it a little bit by even calling the cops in the first place IMO.
"911 what is your emergency?"
"Neighbor lady has her door open and lights on!!!"
"Okay, we'll send the shooters in."
Yeah don't do that unless it is actually an emergency unless you want to risk something ridiculous like this happening. The cops are bad news and ain't your friends.

I think this case is likely a perfect example of white fear of black people disproportionate to the actual risk.
It likely caused the officers to treat this as a potential crime because...…."bad black neighborhood". That led them to set up a deadly situation for both themselves and Ms. Jefferson.
I'd say a fear that results in you facing a murder charge because it made you do stupid things is definitely an irrational fear.
And, yes she had every right to defend her home and herself.
Fact of society... aren't all of the worst neighborhoods the black ones?
Maybe so maybe not , how many whites Caucasians are killed in horrible AA neighborhoods ? How many Whites Caucasians are killed in Horrible White Caucasians Neighborhoods ? If we were to sit Down And , compare the two then and we can talk shop.
What a stupid comment, the fact that the guy went into an unknowing situation with the intention to help says a lot about the person, nothing has been reported to this point that says anything about this man indicates it was a trend with him..
Not a bit stupid , if he was trying to Help Someone he would have followed Police Policies concerning these types of open structure checks or operations!
