So let me get this straight... I get to go to work every day, pay my taxes, so some jackass can be a sculptor (which is a hobby, by the way) or at worse, sit on her or his ass?

Please explain the merits of UBI to me.

At some point in the future there will be little to no demand for labor, even for mid to mid high level jobs due to AI.

We are not at that point now.

This kind of argument has come up for eons. For example "The automobile will kill all these jobs in the horse-and-buggy industry" or "The textile industry will disappear and what will these people do?" Each time throughout history, people are free to do better and other jobs. It's actually cruel to keep people in menial jobs when these folks may have the smarts to do other things. Lose one job and necessity will incentivize making one's self marketable elsewhere.

But to throw money at them will only make a class of people slaves to government welfare.

“A Liberal Paradise would be a place where everybody
has guaranteed employment, free comprehensive healthcare,
free education, free food, free housing, free clothing, free utilities;
and only Law Enforcement has guns.

Such a place does exist.

It’s called prison.”

(Ayn Rand)

The problems we face today exist because the people who work for a living are outnumbered by those who vote for a living.

Nice in theory but at some point, agreed NOT today, there will not be many jobs for people with IQs of 90. IQ 90 are not doctors, engineers, managers and are 25% of the population.

Jobs will eventually disappear for higher and higher IQs.

I have no idea on timing and no it is NOT today.

You can be the Jackass too.

But honeslty. It’s impossible to make everyone rich, but not impossible to it make so people can atleast afford the basics.

To get more than the basics would require one to actually work hard for it. As in having a job..

Having the basics doesn’t = happiness.

That’s how it’s suppose to work atleast.

Think of it as life’s core package and premium package. To achieve the premium it requires a daily fee of blood/sweat and tears..

Who pays for the "core package"?

When you slid out of that vagina you had no cognitive or physical capability to care for yourself. If you were lucky someone gave you charity as you honed your skills.

The default setting of a human being is poverty. Therefore we naturally know that you either must work, receive charity or die.

It's that simple.

I agree and let us wait. If it does occur we can implement it. But at record low unemployment rate there is not need for UBI or try and push it.

Oh hells bells.

If everyone get's $1000 UBI a month the price of a loaf of bread is going to go up to $10 bucks. Or whatever.
