Beto: If he becomes President, police will go door to door confiscating guns

And when asked how he intends to get people to turn in their guns after he makes laws requiring them to, his reply was even more interesting: He assured us that most Americans would "do the right thing" and obey his new laws.

Could there be a clearer admission from a Democrat that he intends to disarm law-abiding Americans?

Beto O'Rourke: Police will 'visit' AR-15 owners who refuse to turn guns in
by John Gage
October 16, 2019 09:46 AM

After insisting American gun owners will "do the right thing" by turning in their firearms under his gun control plan, Beto O'Rourke said police will go door-to-door to confiscate AR-15s if people refuse to hand them over voluntarily.

"There have to be consequences," the Texas Democrat said Wednesday after MSNBC host Joe Scarborough pressed him on how he would get AR-15s out of the hands of Americans unwilling to give them up. "In that case, I think there would be a visit by law enforcement to recover that firearm and to make sure that it is purchased, bought back, so that it cannot potentially be used against somebody else."

The question came after Pete Buttigieg slammed the former El Paso congressman for his stance on gun control during Tuesday night's Democratic primary debate. The South Bend, Indiana, mayor accused O'Rourke of having no plan for taking guns of the streets.

O'Rourke had previously stated that he believes "Americans will follow the law" but that there would be "consequences from law enforcement" if they don't. However, he did not clarify until Wednesday that police officers would "visit" people to take their guns away.

I can guarantee he's just trying to stay in the news now as much as possible. He knows he won't win, but just staying extreme left enough so that people remember him in 4 years.

Why can he go door to door to takes citizen’s guns, but we can’t go door to door to round up illegals?

This, directly after he made the statement about wanting to tax churches who don't support same-sex marriage, make me wonder if Trump and/or the RNC are paying him. He's giving Fox News a gold mine of soundbites.

I agree that O'Rourke's announcement is hyperbolic nonsense. That doesn't change the fact that he said it.

If anything, it makes it worse.

That is what all the Democrats want. He's just honest, or nuts enough to say it. Big city police would do it, but very few others would do something clearly illegal, and clearly unconstitutional.

I wouldn't worry. His numbers are lower than mine in the latest polls
