Like Warren's family ( and many families), the Trump family oral history was that Trump's paternal grandfather immigrated from Sweden. Trump believed it so, to the point, it appears in the Art of the Deal along with a misstatement about where his father was born, NJ vs The Bronx.
Trump's father chose to replace his German with Swedish ancestry to not scare off Jewish immigrants renting from him. He owned 27,000 apartments in NYC. His father also denied speaking German, despite being fluent.
Then there's the 3X this year Trump has referred to his father as an immigrant from Germany which is not true. His father was born in the US. Has Trump lost the ability to distinguish between his father and grandfather? His grandfather died before Trump was born.
His father was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, which has a genetic risk factor.
No shortage of people grow up believing oral family histories which do not pan pout.
There are reasons to like or dislike Warren. Her ansestory is not one of them.
the other annoying thing is that Elizabeth Warren's test showed that she could be 1/64 to 1/1024 native American. All we hear the Trumpskulls say is that she is 1/1024.
The fact of the matter is that her "family lore" was correct. She had a Native American ancestor six to 10 generations ago.

She took that slot away from a true NDN, which is what it was for, not some half wit who couldn't get in on her own merits.

The bolded is a lie. Warren didn't get affirmative action, and has gotten where she has in life by merit. She wouldn't have amounted to anything if she didn't actually have the knowledge and talent

Yes it was wrong to misidentify. However, how how does misidentifying your ethnicity on the Texas state bar application give you any real advantages? What would she have been angling for in doing that?
