"Trump to Kurds: “I got you a great deal. I gave Turkey your homeland and homes, and you have 5 whole days to pack up your families and leave before they slaughter you!” The Art of the Deal: How to sell what’s not yours."
Trying to fix something that shouldn't have happened in the first place. Who will treat those injured in this incursion? Our reputation can't be repaired!
So true! Borok Obama trying to depose the President of Syria should have never happened in the "first place". "Who will treat those injured" because of Borok's meddling? Tens of thousands dead, 5 million in diaspora due to the Peace prize winners meddling
They were only a temporary ally of convenience, much like we used Stalin to defeat Hitler (only to discover that Stalin may have been more evil). Or like the Turks and Kurds allied for the Armenian Genocide
Turkey is our true ally and the Turks now consider the Kurds to be terrorists.
There may have been better ways to separate ourselves from this centuries old conflict, but none of us opining on this forum really know anything about the situation, do we?
That's debatable, but one thing is not: Trump knows nothing about the situation. He committed a monumental blunder here. I have not heard of a single expert on the area, military leader, member of Congress who has said otherwise.
Our mission was not to fight for the kurds. It was to destroy ISIS, which we did. How long do you think we should keep our soldiers there, and what do you think should have determined when we brought them home?
Captured ISIS members are being freed due to Trump's boneheaded move. Do you think they're just going to go quietly away? Remember when Republicans were telling us we have to fight them there so we don't have to fight them here? What happened to that?
The next 911-like plot is probably being hatched as we speak. Trump has blood on his hands, and much more to come.

We weren't fighting for the Kurds they were fighting ISIS and retaining them in prison, we had an advisory role. Turkey threatened us and we retreated. This should have been worked out with diplomacy long before we got to this point, there was absolutely no reason this was an emergency for Turkey.
I agree we shouldn’t have troops there or sell arms to the Saudi’s no matter how lucrative it is. I’d like to see total troops withdraw from Afghanistan next, followed by Iraq, then Saudi Arabia. I bet the congress would oppose everyone of these moves but if anyone would do it, Trump would.
This wasn't close to Afghanistan or Iraq, this was insignificant. Besides we just increased troops in Saudi Arabia again. Trump needs to stop claiming that he is bringing the troops home, this wasn't some sort of master plan it was a threat from Turkey.
What the Kurds are being asked is to leave undefended family members behind in their homeland while the Turks and Sunni-extremists remain. It sounds like the SDF must withdraw from the entire zone including the areas they successfully defended.
The Turkish are bound by the agreement to protect civilians but there may be no restrictions on them continuing to expand into areas now vacated by Kurdish fighters. This is completely unclear.
When asked by a reporter whether the Turks made any concessions, Pence could only reply that there is "peace." The press conference rhetoric focused on praising Erdogan and Trump. The Kurds were only said later by Trump to be "happy." No mention made of the Syrians.
