The former journalist in me says you have created a bias and slanted poll based on the title of the thread and the poll itself. Being a contrarian, I want to vote "No" just to be an a**

If Trumps approach works out, most of washington is going to have egg on their face and his approval rating will skyrocket.

His approach has plenty of risk, but we have been trying the same thing for 40 years with no success.
Many people are still hopefull we can overthrow assad.
500,000 dead Syrians. Media didn't care.
A few dead kurds - outrage.

So, now that it is Trump, the needless, and endless wars are necessary? Democrats (leftist progressives) are huge hypocrites and LIARS.
Republican Doves. I guess I can say I’ve “seen the elephant” now.

On the flip side...If a Democratic President arbitrarily gave Turkey the green light to invade Syria, you would be on here pitching a fit and you know it.

Trump just sent thousands of troops to Saudi Arabia. I guess that’s OK since it was Trump that did it.

Hypocrisy? Yeah...there’s a bit of hypocrisy here on C-D.

Our system does not lend itself to overseas adventure, whether colonization or well-meaning Truman-doctrine type initiatives. The President is commander in chief, but only gets a maximum of 8 years. Many of these operations take more than 8 years to see through. We should try to gradually move towards a more non-interventionist approach, as Trump is obviously trying to do.

It's not an easy answer, however, because where we move out, the Russians, Chinese, and Islamists will try to move in. One of the major themes in the recent book by James Mattis is that nations have to have allies. He is a student of history and notes that nations without allies 'wither.'

I agree with President Washington:

Quote:
So likewise, a passionate attachment of one nation for another produces a variety of evils. Sympathy for the favorite nation, facilitating the illusion of an imaginary common interest in cases where no real common interest exists, and infusing into one the enmities of the other, betrays the former into a participation in the quarrels and wars of the latter without adequate inducement or justification. . . . And it gives to ambitious, corrupted, or deluded citizens (who devote themselves to the favorite nation), facility to betray or sacrifice the interests of their own country, without odium, sometimes even with popularity; gilding, with the appearances of a virtuous sense of obligation, a commendable deference for public opinion, or a laudable zeal for public good, the base or foolish compliances of ambition, corruption, or infatuation. .. Real patriots who may resist the intrigues of the favorite are liable to become suspected and odious, while its tools and dupes usurp the applause and confidence of the people, to surrender their interests.
-- George Washington's Farewell Address to the Nation, 1796

Let us be aware that we will either fight them there or here in the US.

Bombing and killings are a daily event in the middle east. Now that Trump has resurrected ISIS attacks will happen all over the world. In the future the US will not be spared. It is much better to fight these radical groups overseas.

Trump has turned his back on an ally. Turkey is determined to eliminate our ally. Trump and the US is complicit in this genocide putting the US in the same category as the nazis. The nazis were to the jews what the US and Turkey are to the Kurds. The difference being that the jews were not allies of the nazis making the US lower than the nazis.

If Trump's actions make no sense then look at Trump as a Russian operative under Putin's orders. It will all make sense then.

You can bet your bottom dollar that any of the politicians on both sides who are against getting out of Syria are in the pockets of the MIC.
