Bring them all home.

Enough wasting billions of tax payer dollars and American lives for that nonsense. We can't even feed our own homeless or protect our borders, this is beyond obscene.

Report after report shows how OUR money, hundreds of billions of dollars, simply vanished with no accountability.

We have zero business being over there.

It sounds like the Iraqis are just peeved Trump treats them like he owned the place by making declarations he is laving 1000 troops there without even asking them.

Iraq contradicts Pentagon, says US forces not approved to stay

Iraq's military said Tuesday that U.S. troops that entered the country after withdrawing from Syria can't remain there.

“All U.S. forces that withdrew from Syria received approval to enter the Kurdistan Region so that they may be transported outside Iraq. There is no permission granted for these forces to stay inside Iraq,” the Iraqi military said in a statement, according to Reuters.

The statement contradicts the Defense Department's announcement that many of the almost 1,000 departing U.S. troops were slated to go to Iraq to fight ISIS and "help defend Iraq”.

We waste billions of tax dollars when we pour money into the military then undercut their mission. There's a whole bunch of confusion on this thread. No one - not Trump, not the Pentagon - was ready to shutdown U.S. support (largely technical, from all those billions spent) of Syrian Kurds and Iraqis defending their territory from Islamic radical terrorism.

Trump did not intend to withdraw U.S. troops from Syria; instead Russia is kicking us out after Trump screwed up that Sunday phone call with Erdogan. The fallback position became relocating that American effort to U.S. Iraqi bases to perform what the Pentagon called counter-ISIS missions. Almost certainly, that was logistically less effective with more potential danger to American troops. But it was second best. Iraq now is saying no. Why?

Trump angered Iraqi politicians earlier by announcing he would keep U.S. troops in Iraq to support strikes on Islamic State group targets inside Syria. No Iraqi faction wanted its territory to be used to attack another country - at least publicly.

Then Trump really screwed the pooch with Iraqis when he announced several months ago that he wanted U.S. troops in Iraq to 'watch' Iran.

Whatever U.S policy may be - how America negotiates its way in this world, with again massive amounts of taxpayer dollars - the commander-in-chief needs not to be so bloody dumb.

This is the problem. Trump was so busy defending himself - from criticism over his Erdogan debacle that he rushed to make policy on his phone keyboard all by his little lonesome. That the Pentagon had no clue what he was about to do with Erdogan led to America having to bomb its own main base - with no time to remove critical equipment - that again U.S. taxpayers paid for.

This time he had U.S. troops relocating to a foreign country with no opportunity for the Pentagon to first negotiate it - privately. Oops.

And he STILL has U.S. troops in Syria "protecting" this oil.

Its like the "Hamburger Hill" in Vietnam. We sacrificed many US troops to take the hill, and once we won the battle, we walked away and gave it back to the enemy.

Maybe Trump heard about that battle while watching the Discovery Channel, got the idea from there.

Trump just lifted all sanctions against Turkey, after officially handing them the Kurdish homeland last week.
