I'm one of those humans that loves animals, but mostly dogs. My dogs are my little buddies. It is very disturbing hearing that they are food in China, and the way they are slaughtered is even more disturbing. I know plenty of hunters, and the last thing they want to do is make an animal suffer.
I don't know, I think there is something wrong with a person if they don't have any feeling hearing or seeing an animal being tortured. Maybe it's just how our culture has developed.
I'm sure if I had more interaction with pigs, I'd probably start to feel the same towards them as I do dogs.
Click the link in the OP and see for yourself (It is the South China Morning Post).
Yes I'm well aware if I clicked on the unnamed link I would be taken to where the OP wanted me to go...but I don't click on a link unless I know what it is.
Thanks.....
(psst...good idea not to blindly click on links -- just an FYI)
Cows, chickens, whales, pigs, fish, cats, dogs, turkeys, frogs... what do they all have in common? They’re all made of food. I’d rather eat a pig over a dog because as they said in Pulp Fiction a dog has personality. But what if the US had a shortage of cows, chickens, and pigs? Well then, woof, woof!
I personally think it's more reasonable to eat dogs than pigs. Pigs are not only as smart as a toddler, they're biologically much more similar to humans.
In fact, in cannibal populations, human meat is called "long pig" because human flesh tastes nearly identical to pork.
Maybe you should see how they slaughter the dogs. They are not put down humanely. They are tortured and then killed. They believe the more the dog suffers the better the meat will be. Sick people! They are blow torched and boiled alive.
Yep. I send in a monthly donation to an organization that rescues meat market dogs in China, rehabilitates them, and adopts them out. The videos they update nearly daily would make your skin crawl. The dogs are severley mistreated in life, and then die a torturous death, done with intention.

Copy the text of the link and paste that into your search engine of choice. Quick and safe plus you get a better feel for how wide spread the story is and who else is reporting it (admittedly in this day and age even that doesn't mean much).
That said, I get the whole dog attachment thing (have had many over the years as pets), but I have no issues with folks eating dogs as long as they are put down in a reasonably humane manner. Ditto for felines, guinea pigs, etc.
