To recap...

Of those on public assistance, Democrat voters outnumber Republican voters by a factor of more than 2 to 1.

Percent of Public Assistance Program Recipients Who Identify as:

Democrat:

Public Housing: 81%
Medicaid: 74%
Food Stamps: 67%
Welfare or public assistance: 63%

Republican:

Public Housing: 12%
Medicaid: 16%
Food Stamps: 20%
Welfare or public assistance: 22%

Are Welfare Recipients Mostly Republican? Or Democrat?

Cites both a Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs (syracuse.edu) study and NPR as data sources. And easily confirmed by cross-referencing Pew Research's study on Food Stamp recipients:

The Politics and Demographics of Food Stamp Recipients - Pew Research

What's interesting about the Pew Research study poll is that it asked about the receipt of Food Stamp benefits over one's adult lifetime. And it confirms the Maxwell Poll's reported stats.
I dont follow polls, I follow the money, that speaks volumes.
Trump was a democrat when he was purchasing politicians left and right and switched teams.

Party means nothing.

Always follow the money.

I do. Public assistance benefits (aka, taxpayer money) are going overwhelmingly to the Dem voter base. A really good question is WHY are Dem voters SO much less able than GOP voters to support themselves?

The US government also transfers wealth in other ways.

According to the CBO the Bush tax cuts transferred over $1.5 trillion dollars to the richest 1% of Americans.

The Trump tax cuts transferred $2.2 trillion dollars to the richest 1% of Americans.

The wealth transfers your source speaks about are things like medical care in veterans hospitals, Medicare, and low income housing assistance. And most Americans don't have problems with those programs, rather they have a problem with the federal government not being able to afford them.

But if Reagan's, GW Bush's, and Donald Trump's tax cuts never happened, then the US government would have the funding for things like medical care in veterans hospitals, Medicare, and housing assistance for low income Americans.

But unfortunately republicans literally desire to give the richest 1% of Americans trillions of dollars in tax cuts, and then cut programs like Medicare and health care for veterans.
