Actually, hybrids aren't that bad. They still use gas, but you do get some miles if you switch to battery - and the plus side, the battery charges while you drive. And they don't all look like alien probes like the Prius. Some of them, you can't even tell they are hybrids.

I was just looking around at cars this summer - to see what is out there - maybe someday I'll get a new car - and I saw a car that I didn't even know was a hybrid. I really liked the look of it, but you don't buy a car on looks, so I asked more about it. Turns out, it's a hybrid. And the gas mileage on it, plus the miles you get on the battery - is really, really, REALLY good.

If ol' Chucky wants to give me a new car for my 2004 Kia RIO - well....

Seriously, no, I wouldn't ask tax payers to pay for a new car for me, but you can bet this will appeal to a lot of people who think they are owed things like new cars.

I think we all know the answer to that one. Government doesn't have money unless they take that money from the people.

Edit: After reading some of the arguments back and forth, the car I looked at also didn't need oil changes every 3000 - 3500 miles. It was double that. And the other good news is that more and more vehicles have timing chains now, not that stupid belt.

Where are you going to put your scary drilling rig and refinery? Think you'll need more than one?

Axles and bearings are not needed to be lubricated for Teslas.

But there is an oiling mechanism with a permanent filter for the electric motor driveshaft. But Tesla does not recommend any oil or filter change of this.

Are you going to drive on cork?

Run the machinery to build Teslas on algae farms.

Your Tesla (and Whole Foods) dollars buy rocket fuel.

It is used in all sorts of things, plastics, tires, and thousands of other things.

Why would we change what our roads are made of?

That's curious. You ever pack a bearing before?

Why don't they just stop subsidizing the coal and oil industry with $20 billion every year?

Well, no. It's the heavy, accumulated residue near the bottom of a catalytic cracking unit in an oil refinery. Those big tall tubes.

Sometimes concrete, which the left also hates now.

There are no subsidies. It's wholly self supporting. It also pays hefty leases and taxes.
