A very large swath of America has very low homicide rates similar to Japan and Europe, but many cities in America that are all run by very liberal Democrats who don't support President Trump's aggressive law and order agenda are some some of the most violent in the world and worse than many war-zones.

Birmingham, AL with 200,000 people has many more homicides a year than Greece with 10 million people.

Baltimore with a paltry 600,000 people has many more homicides in a year than Poland with 38 million people.

Baltimore with 600,000 people had 343 homicides in 2017, Conservative Poland with 38 million residents had 278 homicides.

Birmingham, Alabama with 200,000 people is up to 94 homicides, which is more than the 78 Greece had in 2017 with a population of 10 million in 2017.

St. Louis which is at 164 so far, down from 205 in 2017 has more homicides than Hungary which has about 9.7 million people or about 30 times the population of St. Louis

We Americans are obsessed with our guns, hence, more violence per capita. We Democrats are trying to fix that by getting senseless weaponry out of the hands of people who do not need them, but you Republicans keep fighting because of your second amendment rights.

People will finally wake up some day, and we might be able to get some sensible laws passed.

We finally agree. The US needs stricter gun laws. Suicides are probably higher too. More guns = more gun deaths.

Conservative Poland

Even Baltimore is more conservative than Poland, and when it comes to gun laws, only about 0.5% of the population have been issued a permit to own a gun.

While I tend to agree with your first comment, trying to compare disparate cultures/societies is a losing proposition.
When liberals attempt it, I point out the same thing.

We are much more "diverse" than Poland and other countries like Japan.
Putting the gun issue aside(as you know more people are killed with fists, feet and blunt objects), you cannot take an inner city slum (created by leftist Democrat policies), and compare it to a almost homogenized culture all of the same race, ethnic and religious backgrounds.

Oops.

That didn't go as planned.

No worries though. The OP rarely comes back to these threads he starts. His main point is to get the "headline" posted only to reinforce those who already share his beliefs. Truth doesn't matter nearly as much as planting the "sound bite" .

Yes, God forbid we want to maintain our rights enshrined in the Bill of Rights and our Constitution preventing the government from taking those rights away.
When will you leftists just come out and admit you want to "fundamentally change our country" and admit you must eviscerate the founding document to do so?

I guess you would prefer one person rule with a dictator of your ideological belief system. Or maybe a monarchy of like minded rulers.
Or some sort of all wise/knowing government(probably communist in your mind) take those rights away that you do not agree with.
Socialism/Communism has never worked and never will.
The ruling class and their friends will never live like those they control, but sadly pie in the sky dreamers never seem to understand that.
Malcontents never realize how good they have it. They are perpetually looking for greener grass, and don't realize what they have, until it is gone.

By the way, how much do you trust Trump & Co to know what is best for you and your liberal brethren?

I suspect you only want the rights given/taken away that you don't like, but that would only happen with one party rule, or one of the alternative forms of governance I mentioned above.
Your Utopia would only occur in a vacuum where total ideological purity of your belief system would occur, which of course is impossible. At least not without the threat of violence or brainwashing of the masses to make them comply.
Just like how some liberal jurisdictions are threatening fines, loss of occupation and even jail time for such things as non-compliance with PC speech protocols. NYC has apparently "recognized" 31 gender types, and you must use those preferred pronouns or suffer the wrath of the government.

I could go on, but any way you slice it, your Utopia is most other peoples nightmare.

As imperfect as it is and always will be, we prefer what our Founding Fathers left us, a constitutional republic that will not infringe upon our rights.

Switzerland has a very high percentage of gun ownership and you're actually allowed to own FULLY-AUTOMATIC machine guns in Switzerland after you've attained a permit. Switzerland even allows non-citizen permanent residents to own firearms as well.

Switzerland has a ton of guns and has very little crime.
Guns aren't the problem.

Most of the gun crime in America happens in the inner cities, which are predominantly democrat areas, and largely African-American in population (main exception being the southwest U.S., where gun crime is mostly hispanic in nature).

The areas with the highest rates of gun ownership, rural Republican areas, have very little to no gun crime.

Good luck trying to get guns out of the hands of criminals, lol. Criminals don't obey laws to begin with and they certainly aren't going to care if democrats pass new gun laws.

Republicans and majority Republican areas aren't responsible for most of the gun crime.
Gun crime in America is mostly a democrat issue that mainly affects areas which vote democrat, like inner city Baltimore, Detroit, Philadelphia, etc.
