I went with the 200 option only because there weren't enough options.

Would I rather pay $200 for a private doctor to treat an infected wound or $100 VA doctor to treat the same wound?

The VA has messed up a lot of vets. Even though I am a Vet the VA is the very last place I will ever go for treatment.

Public defender vs a private lawyer? Yeah I'll mortgage the house before I go with a public defender.

I can go on and on.

$100 is a gun to your head.
$200 is no gun to your head.

$100 - no competition = inferior quality.
$200 - competition = higher quality.

The premise of the question assumes the exact same level of service quality. Obviously, everyone is willing to pay more for better quality. Whether the government or private sector actually provides a better level of service for X, Y, or Z would be a separate issue.

Does the Govt Service suck and take 6 months to get the same service I can get in 1 day from a Private provider ?

Would I rather eat at a Govt Meal provider or a nice restaurant ?
Cheapest Govt provided wine or Wine from Napa Valley I pick ?
Govt provided clothes or Clothes I can pick from Nordstorms?

Your poll would be more accurate if it were reversed. Government always cost more than Private, it's just subsidized by us fools who pay taxes.

No. It is not a separate issue.

Again, I’m assuming the same level of quality. Whether or not the government is better / worse at a given task would be a separate poll.

I’m trying to get a feel for how people feel about paying via taxes vs. paying out of pocket.

Well there you have it. Assumes..........
Let me pose a counter point to you.

Would you pay 40 million dollars for a gas station? Built by government contractors. The Government owns the entire project. Orrrrrr. would you pay a few hundred thousand for a comparable gas station that the Fed had nothing to do with?

How about The Government says it will be $100 but by the time they finish with their cost overruns their changes to the plan, you now end up with a service that you never wanted and it cost you $2000. That is how it works.
