This is nothing new. This policy in companies goes back to at least the early 90's.
He violated policy and was canned. I don't see how this is newsworthy or controversial.
The Board held the CEO to the same standard they expect franchise owners to hold themselves, their store managers and shift supervisors to.
It’s been a common policy at many large employers for decades, predating the MeToo movement.
21st Century Fox ( former ownership structure of Fox News) agreed to a $90 million settlement with shareholders for not disclosing decades of $ multimillion financial settlements for inappropriate behaviors by management/ on air talent and plaintiffs who had proof with tapes of phone calls, in person meetings and emails. Fox, under Ailes, typically circled the wagons and attacked and attempted to discredit accusers. Nonetheless, corporate patterns had been established and sponsors ceased buying the act. The rest is history.
Well gee golly then why not just grab the next random walmart shopper you see and make them CEO of Comcast for $20/hour? What savings! Almost anybody could do that job...it's not skilled like sports.
Now you`re getting it. The Walmart shopper has a better chance at being a good CEO than a professional athlete. Unlike an athlete, CEOs can actually get away with murder. Boeing and Massey energy are the first 2 to come to mind. Boeing`s CEO will collect his 23 million in salary no matter how many death`s he was responsible for.

Not sure what you're doing there....we were talking about McDonalds etc. and then suddenly you're trying to drag FOX news into this?
Clearly hollywood and the media (almost all of it) came much much later to the party of responsible governance and behavior which was the impetus for "me too".
We've seen piles and piles of actors, producers, studio chiefs, news figures etc. all not only be exposed but also the internal rotten culture that allowed them to get away with behaviors that were addressed much earlier by the non-media businesses.
*gasp* we even have politicians being held accountable for boinking subordinates, something that was not the case 20 years or so ago.

Thanks, I'm sure many here besides myself appreciated that good laugh.
And to illustrate how much later Hollywood came to the party - Tarana Burke coined the phrase and it spread in 2006 - but you never hear her name mentioned. Instead, people want to credit Rose McGowan, etc.
For those too young to remember - the big argument against Bill Clinton with Monica Lewinsky was that any CEO would have been immediately fired for such behavior, but he wasn't held to the same standard.
Nothing new and it's not newsworthy or controversial.

Obviously you wouldn't have good odds with finding a successful CEO at a Walmart but it's not like you couldn't stick them in an office with a nice desk and make decisions. Nobody said the CEO had to be successful.
Meanwhile, the NBA team could put a CEO out there and get beat by 70 every night even with four other pros on the court.
