If anybody cares to watch the whole 23 minutes of the video, you'll get a lot of insight from what conditions in society may signal a danger of facism's rise. The host did a week-by-week in real time of World War I exactly 100 years to the week for the entire 4 1/3 years, from 2014 to last year. He started an analogous WW2 series, 79 years ago to the week (he wanted to to 80 years, but funding timing issues compelled him to do 79 years). Without further adieu, here it is.
If Hitler was born today, he would be a leftist. He was a vegetarian, obsessed with racial issues, was intolerant of others, and believed in strong state control of the economy and restrictions on freedom of speech. Sounds like your average lefty to me.

Oh Please, your posts are just right-wing revisionism. I started a whole thread on this matter back at the end of January (closed now, but still 303 posts. So there's plenty of info on there).
And my source material is from a modern day German national living in Germany! HE should know better than any American about this matter, and even he says they were not socialists. Nor were they even Social Democrats / Democratic Socialists, etc. Plus my own bullet-points summary of that video. Suffice to say that calling the claim "The Nazis and Hitler were socialists" is debatable is to give the claim too much credit - not to mention putting the matter politely.
As for pipes and smoking, I don't smoke anyway. But even if I did, smoking what you told me to smoke sounds like some highly concentrated peyote or mushrooms or God knows what else. I get my thrills from reality, thank you.

The Nazis are fascists who are racists, very militant, and blames minorities for their problems. For good measures, they hate the liberalism of the French and the Brits. Their form of socialism is to build up the military and wrestle jobs from the minorities and back to their Aryan brothers and sisters.
Hitler came to power on a promise of "Making Germany Great Again." Instead of building walls, he build concentration camps.
Sounds familiar? It's the modern day Republican party. There's a reason the Neo-Nazis align themselves with the GOP.

Except, they were socialists, which is why they called themselves such. And no matter how hard you try, you can't change facts.

Except it's actually the LEFT today that literally uses the same race-realism, race-determinism and social ranking system based on immutable characteristics that the Nazis were fans of.
And if you think that's what the Democrats are for, then you need to start paying attention.
Do you know that Hitler didn't "hate the religion of others?" He didn't hate "Judaism" or "discriminate against Judaism." His focus on Jews had to do with them as an ethnicity within the context of power and influence over society. Indeed, his rhetoric against the Jews is almost identical to what you find on the "social justice" left and in "minority studies" fields TODAY. Only this time, sub out "Jews" for "white males."
On the left end of the spectrum, the entire world is viewed through a theory that a subset of society (Jews/white men) control everything. That they have unearned privilege themselves to the exclusion of others. That the Jews/white men are profiting off of the labor of others. That the Jews/white men are holding the country back from achieving utopian vision for the country. That the Jews/white men have all the money. That the Jews/white men exclude others and promote themselves. That the Jews/white men are a danger to everyone else in society.
In fact, a couple of professors managed to get pages of MEIN KAMPF submitted to a feminist journal, by subbing out "Jews" for "white men"!!
This mindset is a cancer spreading through the education system, into Hollywood, and now creeping into the corporate world.
It's also the LEFT in this country that are eroding free speech. Used to be a bunch of lame "Christian moms" calling for censorship, boycotts, etc. of content they didn't like.
Now its absolutely acceptable on the left to deplatform, "unperson," doxx, harass, and shut down anyone and any speech that doesn't absolutely support the leftist orthodoxy. Ideological purity tests, speech codes. Every piece of media now has some angle of progressive propaganda. Every art form now must conform with liberal senses of aesthetic and adequately include progressive themes (DIE - Diversity/Inclusion/Equity). Speech is regulated. In Britain the police spend time patrolling the internet for "wrongspeech".
