White woman (possible mentally ill) and Black cop.

In terms of scissors would taser not have been more appropriate rather than straight to firearms.

She was repeatedly told to drops the blades, with Officer Edmonds Jr. heard saying: “Ma’am, put those scissors down.”

The police bodycam shows Rupert talking erratically on the phone before yelling a racial slur at Officer Edmonds Jr. – who is black.

“You’re gonna have to shoot me, n*****”, she is heard saying.

He warned her multiple times to drop the weapon. She approached him with a sharp object so he shot her. The cop did the right thing.

I'm glad she's dead, because it was either her or the police officer.

I agree with you.

I would feel the same if it were a white cop and a black woman. But somehow I feel like if it was a white cop and a black woman, a lot of people on this board would feel differently.

Difficult to see based on the video but it seems excessive. I agree that a taser could have been effective. But then she was clearly coming to attack the cop with scissors.

SMH.

Fair point. Race often makes these situations more complicated.

But in this instance, I hope everyone agrees that the shooting was justified.

I sympathize with the mentally ill, she quite literally was not right in the head. I wish we could figure out a way to help those tens of millions of Americans that need it but can't afford it.
