That cuts two ways. Sometime in the future, there may be a Democratic president with similar charges. Precedent established now will determine what will be appropriate in the future. The GOP is notoriously shortsighted, like when they changed the rules to make witness testimony secret. It came back to bite them, and all they could do was sit on the sidelines outside the House Chambers and howl.

The whistleblower is irrelevant at this point, at any rate. His/Her allegations are being addressed by witnesses testifying under oath.
We already know Eric Ciarmella’s name

Passed by a unanimous vote of Congress and signed into law by Obama. The original act in 1989 was also passed by a unanimous vote.

But do you know that he is the whistleblower? Or is that hearsay?

It seems Parnas is under arrest for funneling hundreds of thousands of dollars of illegal foreign donor dollars into Trump's PAC has agreed to cooperate with the impeachment inquiry.

What we saw with Taylor and Kent was setting the table. Yes they are credible and yes third class information works in plausible deniability, but, it does not mean it's inaccurate information. Sondland revised his testimony after having his memory "refreshed." He also left out that bomb shell phone call that Taylor's aid over heard Trump talking about "the Ukrainians being ready to move forward. " I wonder if Sondland's memory will be refreshed again when he comes in to testify?

What we need to see is Taylor and Kent's notes that the State Department will not release. We need to hear that phone call from Trump to Zelensky held in that super secret server meant for real classified information. If we don't get to that information, then it's another count to add to Mueller's 11 counts of obstruction. If Trump blocks witnesses it's more counts of obstruction.

Look, tribal people, you can lie, spin, deflect, insult, and cry foul, or you can be patriots for once. Keep an open mind and listen to facts for a change. Believing lies and conspiracy theories is doing Putin's bidding. Be Americans.

Kudos to you mountainrose and a rep for at least acknowledging that Taylor and Kent were good witnesses early on in the thread. Lets listen to all of the testimony with an open mind on both sides.

Demanding the whistle blower come testify when everyone knows damn well that that will never happen is just more bluster and smoke. We must protect all credible whistle blowers, and Trump's own I.G. investigated and deemed it credible and urgent. Saying that the whistle blower giving written answers under oath is not good enough when it was good enough for Trump is hypocritical, and you know it. Obama is not under an impeachment inquiry, Clinton was cleared of wrong doing by Trump's own justice department, and Trump is under an impeachment inquiry. Bottom line. Lets live in reality and not in the past. That what aboutism defense is dead.
Well said.

President Donald Trump says he lifted his freeze on aid to Ukraine on Sept. 11, but the State Department had quietly authorized releasing $141 million of the money several days earlier, according to five people familiar with the matter.

The State Department decision, which hasn’t been reported previously, stemmed from a legal finding made earlier in the year, and conveyed in a classified memorandum to Secretary of State Michael Pompeo. State Department lawyers found the White House Office of Management and Budget, and thus the president, had no legal standing to block spending of the Ukraine aid.

Quid pro quo Joe Biden enriched his family and abused his authority by withholding aid to Ukraine until Ukraine stopped investigating the company his meth addicted son worked for....so let's impeach trump.
No, it has not been released.

Presidents are not allowed to use the Power of the US Government for his PERSONAL benefit.

He could have done this in a dozens of proper legal and constitutional ways if he was really interested in Ukrainian corruption.

He instead chose to use bipartisan approved military aid to a country at war with Russia, to pressure them to open a investigation into his main political opponent..... NO OTHER companies was mentioned. Just Hunter Bidens company...

He was NOT interested in Ukrainian corruption... he was interested in dirt on Hunter Biden.

And used military aid as leverage against an US ally at war against Russia.
