No Democrats want to abandon farmers. This thread is about what trump has done to farmers.

You watch too many movies. Farmers are not these rough hewn, independent, no nonsense frontiersman. They are businessmen. Go to YouTube and watch millennial farmer videos, see what real farming is like, not fiction.

Not nearly as bad as you want it to be but you tried hard.
They rose by 25%. That is not insignificant.

But polling shows they still support Trump, and believe the pain will be worth it in the long run.

I'm always leery of bail outs such as this.

There are quite a few start ups that are not being reported. https://agfundernews.com/2019-06-04-...-startups.html

I can speak to what's around me. The industry is changing dramatically. More tech, less people. Worker (labor) intensive ag is waning, tech heavy ag is growing. Also more organic growers who are small and server local markets within the farm to table world.

Most of farmers are still the old school get dirty types. The giant AG farmers are not that plentiful. Small farmers with less than 1000 acres cannot afford the equipment to compete with the rich guys. Take a drive across Kansas or Nebraska if you doubt that. My farm is 1500 acres and we sure as hell aren't getting rich off of it.

We are seeing similar locally. Things like warehouses in industrial areas becoming hydroponic "farms."

I would guess with pineapple and sugar cane gone, almost all of our produce is used locally.

The consumption of milk is way down today.

People are buying almond milk and soda instead of drinking milk.. It is hurting dairy farmers .

It will have an effect, but so much of the milk production goes to cheeses, yogurts and the million other dairy products that we consume. Drinking milk is a much smaller component.
