Yeah, some of us wonder what happened during Stephen Miller's childhood to make him such a xenophobe.
It's human nature (and chimp nature and wolf nature etc.) to oppose the invasion of one's territory. Nothing could be more normal or healthy. It's amazing that this needs to be explained.
And there is also a phenomena called “self-hatred” where people of a “special” group hate themselves for that facet of their identity
They may take actions that supposedly distance themselves from it or refuse to acknowledge it openly or even to themselves...

Well, Miller was a pretty loud racist when he was in high school - rebelling against the largely liberal leaning community in Santa Monica. Even told a classmate they couldn't be friends because he was Latino. I think he lives to provoke and troll others. But for whatever reason, Miller has some pretty retrograde views about race and ethnicity today.
Exerpt from David Glosser's piece on his nephew, Stephen Miller:
I have watched with dismay and increasing horror as my nephew, an educated man who is well aware of his heritage, has become the architect of immigration policies that repudiate the very foundation of our family’s life in this country.
I shudder at the thought of what would have become of the Glossers had the same policies Stephen so coolly espouses— the travel ban, the radical decrease in refugees, the separation of children from their parents, and even talk of limiting citizenship for legal immigrants — been in effect when Wolf-Leib made his desperate bid for freedom. The Glossers came to the U.S. just a few years before the fear and prejudice of the “America first” nativists of the day closed U.S. borders to Jewish refugees. Had Wolf-Leib waited, his family likely would have been murdered by the Nazis along with all but seven of the 2,000 Jews who remained in Antopol. I would encourage Stephen to ask himself if the chanting, torch-bearing Nazis of Charlottesville, whose support his boss seems to court so cavalierly, do not envision a similar fate for him.

That's just bunk and invalid. America doesn't and no countries for that matter have to have open borders because Nazi Germany 74 years ago. The world is a different place today. Why doesn't he advocate Israel have open borders then for everyone?

Advocating for a more humane immigration policy and one that isn't steeped in xenophobia and fearmongering does not equate to "open borders". In fact, open borders as always conflated into political rhetoric is just bovine manure.

The emails were published by the Southern Poverty Law Center, a non-profit organization that monitors hate groups. Miller sent the emails before he had ascended to the White House, but while he was working as a senior aide for then-Sen. Jeff Sessions. One of the emails, published by the SPLC and later obtained by CNN, showed Miller sent a Breitbart staffer a link to VDARE, a prominent white nationalist website.
