After reading this article I realize how out of the mainstream I am. The average American stops paying attention to politics during the holidays to focus on gift giving, gift wrapping and mailing etc. I can not relate. The holidays are not interesting or thought provoking, it's the same thing every year. Politics are much more compelling and are endlessly fascinating. They are always in a state of flux and there is the excitement of the unknown. I am not a Democrat but the Dem primary race is extremely interesting as no one knows how it will turn out. I want to look at every poll and read every analysis. I can not imagine ignoring this all because I am so consumed by gifts and singing Christmas carols.

I don't get deeply interested in politics at all until the Presidential election is a bit closer. Like they actually have a Democratic candidate selected closer. It's enough to hear the daily highlights and quickly move on.

All the vituperative name calling cat calls (from both sides) has made politics something I can't get immersed in. I don't need all the additional negativity in my life.

I ignore most politics until a week or so before an election, then I do my own research, not listening to the quacks ( on any side). It does not interest me year round.
