More like a compliance drill. Get those minds while theyre young and malleable.

We live in age of free information, yet compulsory education run by the flinestones is still the standard.

Most sensational mass shooters with high victim counts do not have a history of violent behaviors.

What could have predicted Stephen Paddock, Las Vegas, was planning on the single largest victim count shooter in modern times ?

The few who don’t off themselves or are not killed by LE are usually found fit to stand trial.

States started closing state institutions more than 60 years ago. They had become political embarrassments and a financial drain on state resources. States increasingly relied on Federal grants to fund mental health. Those funds were cut in the 80’s.

Most mentally ill people are not violent. Seriously mentally ill tend not to seek mental health treatment. They are more inclined to view their thinking as normal. No one can be forced to be medicated.

There are no emotional fitness tests required to buy or posses a firearm. What objective criteria would be used to determine fitness?

From the above link (my italics): "Active shooter drills are a growing and controversial part of the education system in the United States with an estimated 67 percent of districts conducting active shooter exercises, according to the United States Government Accountability Office (GAO). While many say the drills are necessary to confront the reality of the mass shooter era, others question their effectiveness and say that they stoke fear and create the potential for psychological damage unnecessarily." (end quote)

I think it is sad that many people consider this kind of training to be a necessity in today's world. Maybe it is, but I still think it is terribly sad.

(The above article was published two months ago, but I just came across it, and the video was especially disturbing to me. Not because it is graphic -- it's not -- but just that the fact that school shootings do occur, and kids today must deal with the reality of that fact.)
No, what's really sad is that schools don't take actual security seriously.

There are far more guns in rural areas, but most school shootings happen at urban schools. Guns are not the problem.

It's just horrible for our kids having to grow up in this environment. All us older folks had to deal with were bullies.

Are you aware that right this moment, here in MI, there are 500,000 individuals walking around in public ,with rifles ? And in most cases there won't be a single human shot.
Opening day..........

But it really does prove that firearms are not the problem. That 500,000 number is just one state, how many others are there across the country ?

If firearms were the problem, the country divided and filled with hate as much as the media and social media is telling us...opening day should be like the move the Purge. Yet it isn't.

School age children, especially very young children, seem to accept the drills as normal. It is a resignation of when, not if.

The ridiculous former “ Duck & Cover and Evacuation Drills of the Cold War era were also accepted, as normal.

Despite the likelihood of any given school experiencing an active shooter situation is low, reportedly, 233,000 students have been exposed to gun violence in schools, since Columbine.

Yesterday’s shooting was over in 13 seconds before the shooter used his last round on himself.
He carried the firearm in his backpack.

No amount of armed teachers/ security could have prevented it. 13 seconds.

Nearly every mass shooter does not expect to survive. They either off themselves or are taken out by LE.
