I havent seen anyone else argue that position.

But the economy's better than ever. Look at the stock market for proof. The should stop whining and be grateful that they have the privilege of seeing the economy surge.

You were the one complaining about safety features such as airbags and traction control. Or are you just saying you didn't have a point in the first instance?

Let me add to that just a tad.

If you can't get by with a full time job and system run by Republican values.. you should get one more.

I had to follow that conversation you two had. No where did he say anyone should eliminate safety features, he did say that people should be allowed to choose which features they wanted on their car, and not have them mandated by government.

So yes, you made it up

New Republican talking point:

If cars are too expensive for you get a job closer to home and walk or take the privatized transportation system that's non-existent or completely inadequate.

Why should anyone have to get a job? Government should give us a house, a car, a minimum monthly income, and free college and free health care. That's freedom, that's Utopia - VOTE DEMOCRAT!!

Meh. Maybe eliminating the features was a poor choice of wording when eliminating the requirement for those features to be included would have been better - I should have been more clear. Of course, result of eliminating such a requirement would ultimately leave more cars without those features on the road, so the point still stands.

I actually didnt take a position one way or the other in the post you're referencing, I just enumerated a partial list of features that are mandated and as such contribute to the overall price of a new vehicle.

But for the record, I think govt should stay out of it completely.
Apology accepted in advance.

People keep saying don't buy new cars. I used to be like that. After my previous car was totaled. I told my dad I was going to buy the same one. He said, you might as well buy the new version. I did just that. I bought my 2013 Altima new and haven't had any issues. The car is paid off and I intend to drive it for 2-4 more years since I don't get many miles on it. People just need to be responsible, don't get 6-8 year car loans.
