I voted for Trump in 16 and plan to vote for him again next year unless given a better option. I think the democrat party has a lack of leadership and their impeachment effort is a result of that. They have caved to the angriest and most radical of their base, basically they are a lost party right now. A moderate with reasonable policies and the ability to reach the general voters will not be coming out of that party next year.
Hence, Howard Shultz. If he decides to run, he won't need to go through the democrat primary as he is a centrist independent. Trump has shown you don't really need support from the party to become president, only support from the voters and enough personal wealth to run your campaign, which Howard has plenty of ($4 billion).
If you've been watching the democrat debates, it's clear the outdated debate format isn't helping any candidates. Howard can make appearances on media networks and popular podcasts like Joe Rogan, NPR, Ben Shapiro etc. He can do town halls, rallies, there is limitless ways to reach the public in 2020.
Schultz background:
* Grew up in a public housing project in Brooklyn (understands the struggle of many Americans)
* Worked and paid his way through college at Northern Michigan University
* First to graduate college in his family (his parents couldn't afford to attend his graduation)
* Door to door salesman after college
* Not a politician (huge plus)
* Self made businessman that built Starbucks into what it is today
* Has slammed the vilification of capitalism and concerned about the rise of socialism on the left
Howard is an impressive example of the American dream with a great inspirational story. He can challenge Trump in ways none of the democrat candidates can. With Joe Biden floundering and Bloomberg now stepping in, Howard is a fresh face and a true centrist that can appeal to a general public that is looking for exactly that. There is certainly an opening there as the left is failing to offer it.
The last thing we need for president is another billionaire businessman with no political experience.
I don't care how much you dislike politicians, you don't want somebody to be the Top Politician In The Land to be somebody with no political experience any more than you would want your Head Electrician to be somebody with no experience as an electrician.

Dwight Eisenhower was a general, great president. Same for Ulysses S. Grant. I think the country is doing very well under our first businessman president, although a little more controversy than many of us would like, it's hard to argue against the results.
So your a no on Schultz, who are you a yes on? Just curious

The party needs a centrist. Biden was sorta that at first until he started saying the same dumb crap the other pimps are mouthing. Peddling promises of free this and free that. Someone's gotta pay and there ain't enough rich people to cover it all.

I am a no on Schultz. Right now my top pick is Klobuchar.
A military general involves a fair amount of diplomacy and political tactics, so that's a close surrogate.
