Why? Are crimes against women more egregious than they are men?

So much for equality.

Given that the states aren't getting the job done - the feds were right to step in here.

Laws are playthings for lawyers. Liberal slippery slope has created unintended consequences.

animal cruelty is what whoever in power or who owns the media says it is. Legal language is elastic and can easily be stretched.

Don't think we need federal regs. Declawing a cat is now illegal in NJ.

PETA considers fishing cruelty and was pushing fish as 'sea kittens'.

Amsterdam is confiscating broadhead fitted arrows of hunters passing thru their airports.

Federal regs a cause for concern.

This bill only applies to interstate commerce. If the animal cruelty does not cross state lines, then state law applies.

As we have discussed many, many times on the subject of amendments and particularly the 2nd, "regulate" does not mean to control or govern. It means to "make regular" or when it is not running smoothly, to step in and make it run smoothly.

A great example would be that shipments of goods down the east coast should run smoothly. But if Virginia wanted to tax all shipments traveling through their state, that would me commerce wasn't "regular". That's when the feds have the power to jump in and fix the problem. Otherwise they keep their nose out of the business of the states.

Please explain how the commerce clause gives the feds any power to do this.
