That's not what Trump did. He asked for a favor, actually withheld the aid until he found out about the whistleblower complaint and then knew his ass was in a sling so released the funds. Even his own OMB staff had heartburn over his withholding aid.
If you contract for someone to kill somebody for you, but the plot is foiled, are you not still guilty? Yeah, it's like that.
Nice story. NYT said he was receiving pressure from both sides in Congress to release the aid. So nobody knows except Trump.
Maybe they should have been patient and waited for Trump to actually receive some dirt on Biden.
Because at this point - there's nothing. He paid up and got nothing for it.
And Rs have been using the fact that he released the aid ONCE HE HAD BEEN CAUGHT as evidence that he never improperly withheld it to begin with. LOL!
It's been public knowledge right from the beginning of this controversy, that he released the aid to Ukraine only after he was aware that the whistleblower had exposed him. The fact that he then quickly released the money, is evidence that he knew he'd tried to run a quid pro quo and was hoping no one would make an issue of it. Too bad Trump, you knew you were doing wrong and got caught red-handed. If you'd been smart, you wouldn't have released it and then made up some other excuse for holding it. Of course, however bogus that other excuse might have been, the members of your base would have lapped it up.
