I have family members in their 20’s who hate capitalism but have only benefited from their parents and grandparents business ventures that they can have new phones, cars, take many vacations abroad to European countries and paid in full college…all without working for it. Actually, come to think of it they make the perfect socialists.
There are good things about capitalism, and there are bad things about capitalism. Capitalism has certainly made us richer, but at what cost?
I think lefties focus too much on the environmental costs. My concern is the social cost. To me, the cost of capitalism is best embodied by Mark 8:36-37...
"For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?"
I guess the answer to that question is, a turkey dinner.
You're about to describe to us a system that's better than capitalism, right?
Socially-speaking, literally every system is better than capitalism. Capitalism is individualist globalist materialism with a side of extreme inequality. Capitalism is the destroyer of families, communities, nations, and morality.
Capitalism is the destroyer of families, communities, nations, and morality.
The usual hysteria from the usual suspects.
Capitalism is, in fact, simply freedom. The opportunity to conduct your activities without undue restriction regulation, threats etc. by others... and the responsibility to live with the results of your decisions. These days, we have to add: and conduct your activities without undue or illegal restriction, regulation, threats etc. by government.
Government's only role in capitalism, is to make sure you (and everyone else) keep your promises and don't renege on deals without the consent of the other parties to the deal. Plus, of course, safeguarding your (and the others') basic rights: Life, liberty, right to property justly acquired, right to pursue your goals etc.
Capitalism is your opportunity to run your life your way, without you unjustly interfering with others' lives, and without their unjustly interfering in yours.
The only role of government under capitalism is to ensure that nobody is free from capitalism.

Considering how much effort government spends on prosecuting penny-ante shoplifting while ignoring millions of dollars in wage theft, the government is clearly failing capitalism.
I don't care what THAT would look like. I'd just like a country with a truly free market where government used its power to keep bad big players in check while not drowning the "little guy" like small-scale farmers in regulatory red tape.
No one is getting drowned in red tape. Every time I've looked into claims of that, it was whining by small business owners who didn't feel like paying for something they didn't like because it meant they either had to pay employees correctly, or wouldn't be able to buy a bigger boat.
