The more successful his parishioners are, the bigger the tithes are...He's nothing but a scammer.
Who is he scamming? If I can talk a free man into giving me 10% of his money every week without using a pistol, am I scamming him? That’s the question. Osteen is selling something. I can’t name what it is he’s selling, but people feel as if they’re getting their money’s worth apparently.
It’s easy for me to laugh at such people, but we can’t all be equally skeptical and in my case, cynical and circumspect about authority figures and people with titles. I’m just lucky to have had a father that didn’t inculcate me with this notion that titles like Pastor, Father or Reverend were automatically worthy of being revered. I was taught to keep an eye on such folks and to hold their feet to the fire just like I would anyone else.
A lot of people were taught to be authoritarians with a healthy respect for titular heads of this or that organization or group. You carry that stuff into adulthood and you’re subject to fall for anything. Lol
The poor cannot send this con man $$$... this guy uses God as angle to fatten his bank account..its the prosperity gospel scam. He speaks of honor while having none himself...

You don't need a gun to scam people. What do you suppose he does with all that cash he collects?
Osteen's 2017 net worth has been reported to be between $40–60 million. He lives with his family in a 17,000 square-foot mansion in River Oaks, with an estimated value of $10.5 million.

No doubt as we have seen on this forum, this con and his ilk (megachurch frauds) will have supporters here and elsewhere.
People who see fit to preach teachings from the bible and whatnot have no business showing off their millions and lavish lifestyles and then justifying it, when many Americans don't even have a roof over their head.
Nothing wrong with being rich, everything wrong with flaunting and justifying such excesses via your religion, when your same religion supposedly teaches compassion for others.
I hate that every time I have to defend this guy, cause I really don't like him. But his message is rarely controversial.
Why not post the entire sermon? A 10 second sound bite can be deceiving.
If I had to guess I'd say the message is: Just because you're poor, you don't have to be a slob.
Living near the Bronx, and having been in the homes of some very poor people, I agree. Why do people throw trash out the train doors just as they're closing? Why is there more trash on the streets in poor neighborhoods than in wealthy ones, when they're on the same street sweeping schedule? Why do so many poor homes have such filthy bathrooms? A toilet brush and bleach is $2 (combined) at the Dollar Tree.
