Lets not take political sides here regarding this, non-violent is the key. Unfortunately the religious beliefs of some include the elimination of groups of different beliefs and that is not ok by any means.
I don't know which poster you are referencing, but the OP ( a known leftist) made this political with the very first sentence, by implying what the leftists are doing in China, is a right wing fantasy.
The only independent number is closer to 120,000 in prison out of 22 million. China Human Rights Defenders (CHFD) is another State Department funded organization to organize lobbyists and activists within China for protests. They put out the extreme figures which they can't even agree on, ranging anywhere to 1 to 2 to 4 million. Imprisoning 20 to 40 percent of the Muslim population is lacking in credibility.
The incarcerations came after a series of attacks carried out by Uyghur Muslims. The crackdown is an intended result of the attacks. They hope the protests will broaden out and become more violent. It's possible that the 120,000 is now low if more groups have joined in on plotting attacks and protests. In addition, Turkey has been working with China, whereas they were previously working with the CIA to assist the Uyghur terrorist cells within China.
“I’m sure that you will support them, because this is for their own good…and also for your own good.”
This was one of the lines officials were instructed to deliver to children returning to Xinjiang and learning that their family members had been sent to “political education” camps, according to a trove of Chinese documents leaked to and published by the New York Times.
Since early 2017, Chinese authorities have arbitrarily detained about 1 million Turkic Muslims in facilities where they are subjected to forced political indoctrination, effective renunciation of their faith and culture, and in some cases torture. The Chinese government initially flatly denied the existence of these camps. But more evidence emerged and Beijing found itself challenged by United Nations experts, human rights groups, media outlets, and scholars.
This is why China will dominate the world.

They're rounding up people because they fear more attacks. It is no different from the detention camps used by the US in Iraq to hold insurgents, families, friends, and other associates. The abuses in the detention camps run by all sides in Balkan wars is another recent example, and all sides (Christians and Muslims) participated as jailors and captors. The organ harvesting propaganda on China, Turkey, ISIS, and other groups is not reliable and usually comes from a single government-manufactured news organization meant to serve as a conduit for broadcasting sensationalist stories to whip up the public.
Quite the contrary. China is headed straight to the abyss if they pursue the absurd notion that they can reeducate Muslims. No matter what they try, it won't work and will lead to them turning their previously peaceful Muslim population into terrorists, fighting for their survival. Following that, the Muslims will start disappearing and full-scale genocide will ensue. Upheaval and collapse within their country and action from without, will be the response. Muslims in other parts of the world will turn towards China as their main enemy and will devastate them. Surely, the Chinese can't be such fools as not to see how this will happen.
China has over 25 million Muslims and Uyghurs are only a minority of them. The largest Muslim group is Hui and they are not sent to the camps.
Even among 11 million Uyghurs (not all are Muslims) in China, only a small portion has been affected.
