So nothing is worthwhile unless it's 100% foolproof, effective and without any imperfections?

Does that mean we can scrap welfare?

I am not sure what bankruptcy protections have to do with Student Loans since you cannot Bankrupt out of them. Now perhaps we should treat them like any other loan i.e. you CAN bankrupt out of them but you also will have to qualify either you or your parents. Right now anyone can get them regardless of what they are studying. Stop the government guarantees of the loans and put banks on the hook for allowing a basket weaving major to borrow 100k.

This has absolutely nothing to do with Trump yet you bring him up first post, add something meaningful to the discussion for once. $5k may be peanuts for you, but for regular middle class like me, it’s not.

The average debt upon graduating is 25k. The average benefit of a college degree over a lifetime is 500k. There is no college loan crisis.

That's what we should do.

The ease of getting them and the protections against bankruptcy cause excess inflation of the cost of education.

It's really difficult to bankrupt out of any student loans, even those going to private schools.

Student loans are therefore easy to get to attend those schools. When there's an issue, the parents co-sign because "it's for the kids!" which is what schools count on.

Why the hell do I need permission to access my own money to begin with?

$5k a year is a good start That's a real solution." Elliott_CAs post has no substance and Rand Paul doesn't flip flop.

Nothing to do with Trump, everything to do with policy. This policy actually works and doesn't fail like the policies you back. Which is why you don't discuss policy.
