But those of you who are laughing at her for claiming this, how did you feel last year when Trump voiced support for abolishing the electoral college "because it would be easier to win the popular vote?" Is it just ludicrous from Elizabeth warren, but not from Trump? What's the difference? And I've got to say, it is a little scary that no one on this thread recalled Trump wanting the same thing...

And she actually believes this could be accomplished in her first term...Chief stop smoking the peace pipe!

Getting a majority of Congress to agree on something like that seems easier said than done.

It's dumb any time someone says it.

Trump didn't say he'd abolish it. He said it would have been easier for him to win the popular vote.

Geez, you guys are so dishonest when it comes to context.

The difference is her comments would imply she can do it. ".... but I plan to be the last American president to be elected by the Electoral College."

Since the Federal government has no power to do this inquiring minds want to know what her "plan" is?

This has nothing to do with Congress, you need 38 states to agree. The only involvement Congress may have in this process is they may put an amendment on the table for consideration by the states. The states themselves can do this completely taking Congress out of the picture.

The ultimate power in this country lies with the states with each state having an equal seat at the table. Only they can amend the Constitution with 3/4 vote to ratify and whatever they add is above all scrutiny. If 38 states agreed tomorrow to abolish the office of the President, Congress and SCOTUS they are done.
