Funny how they never seem top realize it though.
How are they inferior? In terms of blowing up the world--the US is superior but in many metrics, sadly, we are not.

That is not true, but regardless, if it is your belief then it makes it even funnier that his base feels disrespected that he was mocked.

Read what you wrote (even though it's a lie, it's apparently what you believe). Now how can you possibly feel disrespected when the guy you love does it to everyone?

LMAO: This idiotic thread was ended by a comment from a Trump SUPPORTER. hahahahahaha

NATO calls for all member nations to reach 2% of GDP on their own defense spending does it not?

NATO spending is getting close to 2% of GDP and has been rising. The problem is that much of the South is under austerity budget rules imposed by the US through the IMF and World Bank.

NATO to hit $300 billion

It was merely a target for the next decade in 2014.

The date suggested was 2024, but it's not written in stone or a legal obligation.

Quote:

Wales Pledge -2014

For the first time, the Allies formally pledged to aim to move towards what had previously been an informal guideline of spending 2% of their gross domestic product on defense, and 20% of that on new equipment. For countries which spend less than 2% they agreed upon that these countries "aim to move towards the 2% guideline within a decade". In 2015, five of its 28 members met that goal.

At the beginning of 2018, eight of the 29 members either were meeting the target or were close to it; six others had laid out plans to reach the target by 2024 as promised; and Norway and Denmark had unveiled plans to substantially boost defense spending (including Norway's planned purchase 52 new F-35 Fighter Jets).

Further outcomes were the development of the Readiness Action Plan and the Defence and Related Security Capacity Building Initiative.

Trump is a guy that demands results. He is a business man and if someone is not working out he fires them, if something is not working out he dumps it, if a business is failing he sells it or dissolves it.

We should all question the roll of NATO and the UN and the Billions of tax payer dollars that we hand them.

They mock Trump because he is taking them to task and they don't like him rocking the boat. They much preferred the same ol same smooth sailing with Obama as long as the money kept flowing.
Nice scenario but the questions he's raised were already raised in 2014 with a timeline agreed upon of 2024 to reach those funding goals.

No change.

This charade by Trump is nothing more than public bluster and bluffery for the less intelligent of his acolytes.

Yeah they did that in 2014 pre-Trump

They have until 2024 to reach that goal ……. still ……… and also pre-Trump.

So all of this confrontational nonsense has accomplished what exactly? ……….

Other than feeding trolls of lesser I/Q.

Oh, that and it cannot escape going noticed by both Russia and China …….

There is still another four years left in which to meet the target, which is not a legal stipulation.
So yes, thanks. Trump has been great for NATO, he has got countries to pay more. Macron is trashing NATO saying it is brain dead, looks like Trump is on the side of NATO.

Actually the 2% had more to do with Putin's Russia.

NATO members near Russia have spent a lot more, but they were going to anyway, indeed the likes of Poland and Estonia and other such countries are eager to have US forces deployed in their countries.

Rather ironicaly, the countries that the US has the most bases in, are the most reluctant to increase spending.

Germany has made a vague pledge to try and reach 2% by 2030, and Italy and Spain aren't interested, indeed they are nowhere near Russia and don't really care. The problem is these bases in Italy and Spain are useful in terms of Non-NATO US missions in the Mediterranean, North Africa and the Middle East, whilst bases such as Ramstein in Germany are critical to US power projection beyond Europe.

The UK meets the 2% figure and Boris Johnson has pledged a a further £2.2 Billion defence increase.

As for the other western european countries there are not many US Forces based there, and the US can't withdraw what's not there in the first place, and the French shut all US bases on their soil back in 1966.

Yes. But the money is not sent to NATO. It is spent on our own military.

The US spends far more than any other nation on its military. Are you seriously contending that we'd be spending less if we didn't belong to NATO????? Hint - the US just loves being the big kid on the block. NATO helps us do just that.

https://money.cnn.com/2017/05/25/new...ump/index.html

Look, I think the reasons why NATO exists are good ones. And it's worth noting that the one and only time NATO's obligation to defend other members was invoked was in the wake of 9/11, and NATO members responded on behalf of the US.

I am not exactly thrilled that I live in one of the most militaristic nations that has ever existed. But if the US were ever to pull out of NATO, our total military spending is more likely to increase than it is to decrease.
