You don't need to subscribe, but here is the thrust of the article: "The US did indeed lose about 5.6m manufacturing jobs between 2000 and 2010. But according to a study by the Center for Business and Economic Research at Ball State University, 85 per cent of these jobs losses are actually attributable to technological change — largely automation — rather than international trade."
They spoiled them too much and that type of parenting continues, probably gotten worse. Expectations these days are through the roof. I find I cannot even have conversations with a lot of people anymore because of different logic.
You cannot complain about being broke when you are travelling internationally every other month and covered in designer clothes and eating out every other night. I won't sit there and listen to it.
I understand the debt problem, but if they didn't even consider options or do research and planning before choosing schools and majors, sorry. Lots of older people live in massive debt too. Just don't brag about your stuff and your expensive vacations and complain about being broke, please.
LMAO
That would be nice..
You talking to millennials from beverly hills or something?
No link. No cite. No statistics. Nothing. Just a "nope" from you?
Thanks, but absent something credible, I think I'll stick to the Financial Times and underlying academic studies.
I don't do battle of the web links. You just posted someones opinion from the crooked FT. Couldn't even take the time to actually say what was relevant about that.

.
Huh? Why do you people continue to repeat the same tired lie all the time?
There are more people working in manufacturing on this planet, than any other time in human history.
Look at this chart. There were no losses in manufacturing after NAFTA was signed. We would experience manufacturing job losses later on around the early 2000s. China joined the WTO in 2001, coupled with increasing automation. This article shows that manufacturing output has been rising, while the jobs aren't gaining. This is due to increased productivity and less labor intensive manufacturing. NAFTA also passed with with a Republican majority in the senate.

This is what I get

Most US manufacturing jobs lost to technology, not trade
I am interested in the high profit service jobs boosted by NAFTA you mentioned. Do they require college degrees? I understand the automation part and that it will get worse.
I do not like how NAFTA was sold to us at the time by Mr. Clinton. Promises were made to the laid off workers and the working class that did not include low wage Walmart cashier and sweat shop jobs at Amazon Unfulfillment centers. No one thought these New economy service jobs would allow them to be eligible for food stamps. And they were not told their towns would die and they would have to leave their lives behind. It was sold as a profitable US service sector expansion. There would be more tech and medical jobs all over as well as re-training laid off manufacturing workers for these jobs. lol.

Sorry you don't like stats or facts. I will take everything you said as mere conjecture, unless you can back it up with something.
Gen Z and Gen X are doing outstanding. Many have jobs that pay way better than their Boomer parents.
Millenials need to get out of the basement and stop blaming the Boomers. The 2 Generations right before you are doing pretty darn well in most cases.
Stop being so offended by everything and go get a job in this 3% unemployment world.
