They stopped it for 40 years.

Pete Wilson rode nativism to a re-election as Governor of CalIfornia in the 1990’s. He was re-elected but in the long-term killed the Republican Party of California.

That's an idiotic claim. Immigration killed the GOP in California. Trying to stop it -- obviously -- was the right thing for the GOP to do.

In the short-term, stopping immigration might be a winner for the GOP, but for the long-term it’s almost assuredly a loser, if not a party killer.
Immigration is the party-killer. Surrendering is such a stupid idea that only the party's worst enemies (like you) would suggest it.

Oh, I don't mind immigrants, but I think it's time for reform that you have to be an American born citizen to be able to vote and be able to run for office, which means no more immigrants like Arnold Schwartzenegger or Omar Ilhan being able to vote and run in American elections.

???

The Supreme Court does not make immigration policy. The president and congress do.

Who's going to force her to step down?

Nice rant, but the numbers do not compute. We’re going to become a minority-majority nation just on the basis of the people already here. There doesn’t need to be any more immigration to make that happen. There was a story in the New York Times that noted that even if every proposal of Trump on immigration was enacted, it would only delay the arrival of minority-majority nationhood by a grand total of five years.

The GOP’s largest demographic voting bloc, non-college non-Hispanic whites, is losing on average 3% of its share of registered voters with each POTUS election because it the oldest demographic and the group average is beyond prime child-bearing years. Trying to win by turning out larger numbers and getting higher percentages out of that diminishing bloc by appealing to ever more pointedly racist appeals, will ultimately fail. In an increasingly diverse nation, it is the equivalent of a political suicide pact.

No, we won't, because such a thing is literally impossible.

Not necessarily. Not if we stop paying for the children of people who can't afford to have children. And not if we stop taxing productive people to limit their ability to have children.

There's no such thing as "majority-minority". That's a stupid term that's literally impossible.

The GOP’s largest demographic voting bloc, non-college non-Hispanic whites, is losing on average 3% of its share of registered voters with each POTUS election because it the oldest demographic and the group average is beyond prime child-bearing years.

Its share of the population is decreasing because of government policies designed to make that happen. Obviously, the right thing for that demographic to do is to change those policies.

Trying to win by turning out larger numbers and getting higher percentages out of that diminishing bloc by appealing to ever more pointedly racist appeals, will ultimately fail. In an increasingly diverse nation, it is the equivalent of a political suicide pact.
You're advising surrender. You say we can win by surrendering. That's disingenuous and stupid.

There is another poster that claims we can fix illegal immigration by making them legal. Yes, they actually think that.

Meh .... He's a candidate in a Republican district. A candidate. The existing representative has been there since 2015, when a Democrat was displaced. In 2018 the existing representative got 55% of the vote.

I think the world is safe.
