It's no wonder you're an AOC fan.
Your state desperately needs the supposed 23k jobs, and Texans will work for pennies anyway.

NYC obviously doesn’t need the jobs, and they obviously don’t believe the claim of 23k jobs just like I don’t believe it. And if you have any sense, you shouldn’t buy it either.

The amount of jobs they’re bringing is what they were gonna bring anyway most likely. A trillion dollar company shouldn’t need to sweat millions of dollars in tax incentives that they don’t need. They were just being chincy, and trying to strong arm the people of New York.

It failed. And it should’ve failed. We both know that your state would’ve given Amazon every incentive they asked for and a whole lot more. Texas would’ve probably thrown in free laborers just to sweeten the deal.

Hillary Clinton - We are going to put all the workers in the coal industry out of work.

Joe Biden - China is our friend.

No wonder they can't win national elections these days.

The idea is not to give them ANY tax incentives to begin with.

Amazon is worth a trillion dollars. NYC shouldn’t be giving them one red cent in incentives.

I don't like the idea of giving the largest online retail giant tax incentives to kill brick and mortar retail. Kind of seems like picking winners and losers. But, I also understand how the game is played. If you aren't willing to provide companies with incentive to set up their operations in your community, you're not going to get their business.

Amazon probably felt sorry for AOC and tossed her a small fraction of the jobs so she doesn't look like a total loser. But she chose to be a blustering doofus and brag about it, because low information people eat it up, as you are doing now. And she got called out on it big time, and made to look like an even greater fool in the end. But that's what we have come to expect from AOC every time a light bulb goes off in her mind.

Such a thread fail.

Southwest is asking you, "Want to get away?"
“Reducing the taxes paid” is giving them money, genius.

That’s the money needed to pay for schools, police, roads, firemen, etc...infrastructure that Amazon uses and should pay for.

AOC was and is right, and I don’t believe Amazon’s original claim of all those jobs, and NYC obviously didn’t believe it either.

Moreover, YOU DO like picking winners and losers if you think NYC should’ve given Amazon tax incentives because that’s “how the game is played.”

Well, it wasn’t played that way this time, was it?

HAW..... Your topic has backfired on you as usual. You didn't do your homework when you googled it up. From the Democrat Governor of that state.

Cuomo says losing Amazon HQ ‘greatest tragedy’ of his tenure
Cuomo also said during an interview on public radio station WAMC that losing the Amazon deal makes him sick to his stomach
You are just digging the hole deeper on a failed attempt to promote this loon. She's being lambasted in her own district for the loss and now has at least 4 politicians running against her over it.

No it wasn't. And because of that, Amazon has committed to creating very few jobs there. If you don't want to play by the rules of the game, and that goes for any game, you're probably going to lose or be disqualified. Thus making you, a loser, which is what AOC has made herself look like, on the national level, with the Amazon deal. Giving her thick glasses to make her look smart does not actually make her smart.

You are free to believe what you want, and certainly you can call into question the validity of Amazon's original claims about creating jobs. But I'm not sure there is any evidence to suggest Amazon does not honor their commitment to creating jobs. Have they done anything in the past to make you question the promises they have made pertaining to job creation and tax incentives awarded? Or do you just hate Amazon, or all corporations that seek tax incentives?

I also do not care if aoc shut down employment opportunities in NYC for 25,000 young people to earn an average of six figures by rejecting amazon hq2. the voters in her district elected aoc and I support their choice to elect a 20 something, socialist bartender to represent them. the voters who would likely have benefited in many ways from amazon's new headquarters were incredibly stupid, however. that isn't an opinion. it is a fact.

Yeah, they canceled it alright. They’ve actually decided to go ahead with the deal regardless of the fact that they aren’t getting the incentive package.

This is how business is supposed to be done in the United States. If you want to set up business, then do so, but don’t go around asking municipalities to give you everything but the kitchen sink. That’s bad corporate behavior, and cities and states shouldn’t put up with it. Either this is a capitalist country, or it isn’t. Privatizing profit and socializing risk should be a no go.

Oh yeah...there’s this:

Yep. Looks like Facebook is coming to NYC too. I guess the notion that high taxes blah, blah, blah would keep businesses from coming to New York isn’t exactly true, is it? They aren’t gonna get the incentives either I’m sure.

1500 versus 25,000 jobs...you cannot tell the difference in those numbers?

The 1500 is not "HQ2", and nothing even comparable to gloat about like you and AOC are doing.

Goodness, the lack of economic sense is amazing, but her district reflects this, lol.

Lol.

It's no wonder you're a liberal.

If you're giving me $1,000 and I say you only need to give me $700; I'm not giving you $300, you're giving me $700.

You need to get out of this thread before you set a FAIL record.
