methane, a major contributor to global warming." According to whom? And could someone show me in actual measurements, not models, where the Earth is warming at an alarming rate?

These Climate activists are worse than used car salesmen!

highly specialized camera sees what the human eye cannot: a major release of methane, the main component of natural gas and a potent greenhouse gas that is helping to warm the planet at an alarming rate.

According to chemists. The absorption characteristics of most materials including gases has long been known. This has nothing to do with climate science, it is what chemists do. The criteria for a gas to be a greenhouse gas is that it absorbs IR strongly in the bands in which water vapor has weak absorption. All of this is highly quantified and is not a matter of opinion, it is a matter of basic physics and the measured properties of the gases.

As to the warming question - this is so widely known, so easy to Google, so often discussed here that I am skeptical that you really want to know so am going to let you Google it yourself if you're really interested.

..and the basic physics and measured properties of the gases are.....

methane has narrow absorption bands at 3.3 microns and 7.5 microns...
....both bands overlap water vapor absorption bands... water vapor absorbs strongly in the 3-micron region, and again 5 and 7 microns;
methane is only 0.00017% (1.7 parts per million) of the atmosphere.

with vastly more water vapor.....methane in of itself has no effect....water vapor has already saturated those bands

We have another physical example of methane as a greenhouse gas on the moon Titan. Without the greenhouse gases, the surface temperature would be -312 F, compared to the current temperature of -271 F: a difference of 41 F. It would be warmer, but there's also an anti-greenhouse gas at work with the organic haze.

Not according to the ACS (American Chemical Society). I think I will go with them on this.

I have no doubt that many do not want to see this...Human nature dictates that if a threat is not immediate ignore it.

"Scientists have a moral obligation to clearly warn humanity of any catastrophic threat and to 'tell it like it is,'" a group of scientists wrote in a letter published in BioScience Tuesday. "On the basis of this obligation and the graphical indicators presented below, we declare, with more than 11,000 scientist signatories from around the world, clearly and unequivocally that planet Earth is facing a climate emergency."

Yes, water has the most impact as a greenhouse gas. The other greenhouse gases have cumulative effects on top of water, and you need to take all of them into account in the models.

https://www.newscientist.com/article...reenhouse-gas/

"A simplified summary is that about 50% of the greenhouse effect is due to water vapour, 25% due to clouds, 20% to CO2, with other gases accounting for the remainder."

The difference is that you only need trace enhancement of methane to have a significant absorption factor. The total effect of all those greenhouse gases is to raise the surface temperature by 59 degrees F. The climate change concern is about a temperature change of a few degrees, so it doesn't take much to make that happen.

Climate was or is going to be the trojan horse bringing in globalism........a hoax that the world can join in and fight the imaginary beast CO2 together. Since nobody can tell if anything is really changing you can claim whatever you want and thru the UN you can tax or threaten around the globe eventually. All this needs is a despot with enough power to pull it off..........they had Obama who gave it a good start but Trump has taken a wrecking ball to it..........which is why they want him gone, he's not playing well with others........

Getting tired of hearing this false hoax narrative...Ignore the real threat at your own peril.
